m e g a upload is shafted

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Money laundering? Racketeering? 20-year prison sentences?

Overreact much?

You can charge people for everything you want (genocide? extortion? anyone?), proving it's different story. But money laundering is possible, imho.

just found this amusing quote on twitter:
Shutting down Megaupload because you can find illegal movies/music is like shutting down New York because you can find guns/drugs there

Seen elsewhere:
"Everyone should take UMG and the FBI, etc, to small claims court. For all the people that lost legitimate things, you have a grievance. Do not think about class action, small claims cannot be represented by a lawyer, so they have to send an employee. They don't show up they lose. up to ($7000?...state?) imagine 10,000 filings across the country. Those of you that don't belong to Anonymous --> Use the LAWS to hurt them, like they use it to hurt US."

So what will happen with rapidshare, netload, uploaded.to and all the other one click hosters?

Kim Schmitz has some kind of a history but his controversial "career" has nothing to to with the debate about one-click-hosters in general.

I wasn't even aware Kim Dotcom was Kim Schmitz! I honestly thought they made a mistake in their press release. Don't know why but I have a soft spot for that guy.

Good question.
Considering they pretty much all work the same way, I can only assume it's a matter of time before they are all nabbed too

Hello all. I just came across this article after having trouble with Filesonic...

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/filesonic ... dust/67670

It appears that Rapidshare is out, as well. Sad days for file sharing are ahead, especially for those in the US.

i'm gonna suprise you- i read ACTA- i couldn't find nothing really new in this treaty, something resh and potentially danger in futire is provosions implying tight cooperation between entertaining comp./ RIAA likes organization, but be honest, it need to be done to procect copyright.

But all this attacks on megaupload, rapidshare because it contains copyright-breaking materials is a bit exagreration and breaking of presumption of innocence and Audiatur et altera pars rules. Shoting off pointed files that breaking laws is right, but turning off whole sites it's just finding easiest way/solution. Not to mention that on the same scheme they should turn off YT, VIMEO, Flickr, TUMBRL and etc. But whole this is bassed on US&A law what i dunno, so i'm not entitled to write/talkabout that.

in fairness, i've never downloaded anything legal using megaupload or rapidshare

it was always a haven to knock-off music and software.

how long with did we think it was going to last?

there'll be another one along soon.

I agree on shutting down copyrighted stuff. Heck, we have artists on HL & I'm sure they'd agree that it's basically theft.

But the RIAA & UMG & Sony & even the Department For Homeland security are guilty.

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/everybody ... ents/65670

I wonder what the next move will be for all the one click hosting sites?
Cheers.
