Is it me...

...or does You Could Be the One sound suspiciously like Stevie Nicks' version of Stop Dragging My Heart Around?

I'm sure I'm not the only person who's noticed those stolen guitars...

I've never come to the idea, but now that you say that ...

Btw, here's a live version on YouTube for German forum members who are - again - blocked by GEMA ... :urff: ...

It's pretty much the same song/Guitar riffs, 10x slower.

interesting.

in hindsight it makes perfect sense to take a song with a title like "stop dragging my heart around", speed it up to a billion miles an hour and make it about f**king groupies.

good spot :D

To me she and Von have some striking similarities in lyrical sensibility as well, although they take those basic sensibilities in (very) different directions; compare Dreams to Giving Ground or Walk Away.

Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
It`s only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat, drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost
And what you had
And what you lost...

Thank god - I thought I was imagining it for a moment.

I seem to remember reading somewhere (Sounds?) that Eldritch was listening to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks from at least 1985 onwards.

It's quite fun if you imagine that You Could Be The One is the opposite side of the conversation sung by Nicks in Stop Dragging My Heart Around (both songs being the "transcript" of just one side of a conversation).

Honestly, I find the idea a bit far-fetched ... I'd rather go with Quiff ...

... for the sake of hate ...

Well hell ... most of all I shall keep to an intended variety of layers, the latter included, yes,
but for the joy it mostly reflects the concepts and strategies of some typical abusive preacher to me.
Which does, IMHO, not contradict or make the other side of an assumed conservation regarding Stop Draggin' My Heart Around ...

Sisters did a live version of Stop Dragging around 1992 a few times. So I don't think it's a coincedence.

... and Eldritch wanted the first album to sound like a Fleetwood Mac record.
