Boss vs. Von

So this weekend I went to see Bruce Springsteen play two nights in Gothenburg. Two concerts - two completely different shows! Only 7 of the 31 songs played on Friday were repeated in Saturdays show. And now I'm hearing from Helsinki that he has completely changed the setlist once again.
Now - of course I realize that Springsteen has tons more material to choose from than The Sisters, but I still can't help but wonder what a (proportionate) situation with The Sisters would look like..
Anyway, it was lovely and refreshing to see someone who actually gives a s**t about his music and his audience.

Pretty sure the Boss doesn't have songs he
refuses to play live, like our Paramount Leader does?

this I reckon.

Yes and Heino has more German language in his songs than Von; despite the sunglasses.

Well, at least with the Boss you don't have to wait 20+ years for a new album.
There, I said it.

Exactly. Because he actually gives a s**t.
Thank you. My point exactly.

to be fair on eldo&co, it's not like they have enough original material to play two (almost) completely different sets even if they desperately wanted to.
wonder why that might be

Yep but Bruce has two good albums.
has three.

I prefer no more studio album and bootlegs only to a Boss' album!

So then Von ought to be able to vary his setlists even MORE than Bruce, seeing since he has more quality material to choose from...
Oh, and Springsteen actually has five good albums. Everything released between 1975 and 1985. And the sad part is that Von could also have 5 amazing albums by now. If only he had - come on now, say it with me! - given a s**t. Which he doesn't.

We could compare
to anybody in the industry if we had all day.
..but really boys and girls..what's the point?
They are such different entities it's not even worth discussing.

Hear hear, I completely agree, and I never really meant to compare the two. It was just that idea of keeping your setlists spontaneous and varied that really struck me during these shows, and my thought was "hey Von, here's another way of doing it, you might wanna try it some time."

Well that's something that the Sisters have never really done, with the legendary 1985 being perhaps the worst year - just check the setlists from back then.

Agreed. It really is a shame.

I think in his defence, the logistics of the drum programming and the Mac setup somewhat hinders that spontenaity.

Can you imagine the uproar if Bruce let an unknown female take center stage in the middle of a show and do a solo performance of Born in the USA!?!?

Damn. From the thread title I was looking forward to seeing Von and Boss Hogg going at it mano a mano on the Total Wipeout course. Instead the latest rehash thread. Such a bitter disappointment.

Oh you'd be surprised, similar things have happened during Springsteen gigs.
Once again, I'm not comparing Bruce and The Sisters here, they are two completely different animals, comparison is pointless.
BUT I will say that Lisa joining the band on stage like that - and yes, that includes her rendition of This Corrosion - was THE most refreshing thing to happen with The Sisters Live Thing for decades. I applaud Von for that one.
