The Cure - What is their Finest Album?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Nice one.... Pornography.
For me Disintegration has always been the one.
Seventeen Seconds? I realize I know (most) songs but never heard it "in one piece". Should pick up a copy soon.

Disintegration was always the one for me but, controversially, Bloodflowers knocked it off the top spot.

However, i think i've only played 4:13 Dream about 3 times since I bought it. I just do not like it all. Maybe now time has passed I should try it again?

It seems to be a fairly discussable subject so it can have it's own thread. ;D

I love Head On The Door too. And Faith. And Disintigration.

The Top is The Tops. Ahem. It is actually my favourite. The Head on the Door was great also. Pornography was I always thought over-rated. Runs and hides...

Faith, Pornography or Kiss Me depending on mood but nearly everything up to and including Wish is spot on.
There are a few decent songs scattered across the post-Wish stuff but its all a bit difficult to get excited about.

Pornography. Although it still suffers from having Robert Smith as the vocalist/lyricist.

17 Seconds was always the one for me; despite the downbeat music it's just got such a wonderful feel of exuberance as the band are finally unleashed and doing what they want the way they want to, but before the really dark times took over.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

This one by a country mile.
Pronography's a belter, Faith's also a beauty & Disintegration is sumptuous.
But Seventeen Seconds is quite subtle & yet incredibly dark & the remaster is wonderful (even if it was remastered from an original vinyl pressing, as Chris Parry managed to wipe the master tapes by leaving them on top of his washing machine for a few years).
Cheers.

It ought to have been Disintegration, except that every song is about 2 minutes longer than it should be, which is enough for Pornography to knock it off the top spot (as only about half the songs are too long.)

It's not bad by a long chalk, but it is a bit "The Cure by numbers"

I see no-one's batting for Team Wild Mood Swings though.
Cheers.

The cassette version of the compilation Standing on a Beach/Staring at the Sea with the additional b-sides on was also pretty special :)

And I've grown a new appreciation for The Top over the last few years.
