I'm currently off my f*cking mammary glands and I felt like starting a drink post. What's your favourite tipple/topple/fuel?
I'm going with a double G&T at 30,000 feet.

I don't like gin, but other than that, anything I can get down my neck!

On the three or four times a year I drink, gin and lemonade. It's like drinking fizzy perfume.

When I'm at home it's Some Kind of Cider.
When I'm away I always like to try the local beer. I'm particularly fond of beers from warm southern-European countries, none of the chemical crap we get in them and really nice during the good hot days.

I used to drink Bass all the time - but wee-ed in a most inappropriate place once too often so gave it up
Now, if push comes to shove and I fancy a tipple (which isn't very often to be honest) I'll have voddie and grapefruit if the hostelry has it failing that it's vodka and bitter lemon.

Famous Grouse is the on-duty blended whiskey. There's usually some lagers in the fridge.
I try and keep a bottle of proper single malt somewhere in the house, but it isn't easy on a student loan / office temp wage.
Should observe that
Purple never turns up to rehearsal without an eight-pack of beer.
And never leaves before drinking the lot.
Himself.
Git.

The bedroom closet? Many men of my aquaintance have that particular peculiarity when drunk. Fortunately their significant others tend to catch them before they actually do the deed..

I chanced upon this evening's poison of choice quite out-of-the-blue whilst out grocery shopping this afternoon with sis-in-law and wee nephew:
Verdict: not bad, not bad at all!

Vodka & tonic (but only Smirnoff or Ketel One, anything else tends to give me a screaming hangover), the "fightier" end of the red wine family (Malbec omnomnomnomnom), Guinness as a session tipple, and a lovely malt at the end of the evening. I've become partial to Bushmills lately, particularly the 16-year old (toffee and caramel and sunshine and kittens and unicorns and koalas-barfing-rainbows in a glass).

How spendy's that, then?

An excellent question, and one to which I don't have an answer. But I do have a friend who's a commercial pilot and who comes to see me about twice a year, and who fortuitously manages to bring a bottle of the stuff from duty-free when he comes. It's the least he can do, having married my sister and all. It takes me about 6 months to get through a bottle (special occasions only, you see), and my recent forays into the realms of weight loss have meant I am drinking less than I have in the past. The last spendy booze I bought was 12-year old Laphroaig (duty-free again) which I think was about $30 a for a litre. Honestly, though, for the amount of scotch I drink, I could probably make what's in the cupboard last another 10 years.
