Does it qualify as a song by the Sisters? Anyway, it has always been a personal favourite. I had it on tape, and didn't listen to it for about a decade or so, when I got it on CD too, and whooooooosh.... all the feelings and thoughts came back. It's been a regular on my playlist since then.

How about you? Do you like it? Is it any good? Is it awful?

Yes, it does qualify.
In fact, beside the Sisterhood version, it was also in Floodland, this time with Eldritch at the Vocals, so, yes, a sisters song.

Marvelous song, with a powerfull sentence.
Not my favorite from Sisterhood, but one of the best songs from Floodland era.

It's a great song ... the first time I ever heard that sort of traditional sound within a piece of rock music. And it fitted perfectly after Yihad ...

Of course, I do prefer the Sisterhood version on Gift.

It's OK, but I've never considered it to be more than a bit of pleasant filler

I used to have the original Sisterhood-version. So it's not sung by Andrew??? I never knew that, thanks for the info.

I absolutely love Colours. The This Corrosion 12" was my first Sisters purchase & while the A-side was what got me into them, it was the B-sides that hooked me - especially Colours. Love the almost overdriven hum of the synths throughout - like a guitar free Afterhours.
In terms of The Sisterhood - I think that & Rain From Heaven are the best things on Gift...

I prefer it to most of Floodland, but that's not saying much. The lyrics are particularly powerful and without them The Marching Men would have had to have come up with another name. Anyway, more of a Sisters song than Home of the Hitmen or Phantom or Ozymandias or ...

It's superb. Brooding taut techno with a little bit of g-word thrown in for measure (neither good nor bad, just measure). It's pure Eldritch. Why the devil he never bothered to release his techno albums as Sisters albums is one of life's less important but still nagging mysteries. And I still think it's a song about getting jumped on by a load of knuckle-dragging Leeds United fans.

There's a subtle undercurrent of g-word through the entire song! I'm in full agreement with James Ray's comments about this...techno always was goth without the horror, the horror...quite, Sir.

And no iesus, Von didn't release The Paris Riots or The Leeds Underground at all, their history (or lack of) has been discussed at some length for years now, on here as much as anywhere else. I know no more than I've read on here or in Glasperlenspiel at any rate.

But it's suspected that the old Spacetime intro to Sisters gigs, the one from the Smoke And Mirrors / Silver Bullet tours amongst others is taken from them (PR or LU). No idea how accurate that suspicion is.

CD version fades in, while original vinyl version didn't. I liked the vinyl better. They did the same to Emma, such a shame.
