was it not a case that the quarrel did not start later? I'm sure I remember reading somewhere it was all very amicable & there was even talk of Hussey guesting on Von's solo album...
Things only took a turn for the worse, when Wayne & the boys decided to form a band called the Sisterhood...
I've always wondered why they did that... The story was a) just to wind him up and/or b) hi-jack a bit of free press from the media as a result but would they have needed to do either?
Surely the best revenge for Wayne would be to score bigger hits than The Sisters had previously - ideally with the songs Eldritch turned his nose up at... which obviously they did.
As for press attention, a splinter band from The Sisters would have always got attention anyway. Then there's all the abuse they started throwing Eldritch's way for more column inches.
Was Von so disliked by the media they were happy to be complicit in sticking the knife in or was it just for the story. He always seemed to have friends in the Maker - Steve Sutherland, Chris Roberts, Ted Mico & Simon Price all wrote favourable things to my recollection... Strange business - but at least no one got hurt and it sold a lot of records for all concerned!

As usual,
Bangles is correct. As Hussey confirmed in the famous Sounds (UK music weekly of that era) split page giving both sides of the Sisterhood debate, he spent a month or so in Hamburg in August/September working on new songs with
, and the Skeletals gig was during that time.
A month later they agreed to call it a day, and as
explains here (about eleven minutes in)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-O6UheO9i4, Hussey/Adams tried to use TSOM and The Sisters as names for the new project before deciding on The Sisterhood which was far enough away from the original to get past even
's lawyers.
