Does anybody know where I can get a similar coat to the one Andrew wears in the '84/85 era of the band as seen on their early music videos and live performances or at least know what the type of coat is?

Thanks :)

EDIT: 100TH POST! I'm now officially Amphetamine Filth ;)

ie: the one he wears in the "wake" video?

you could start by googling "black men's frock coat" and whittle it down from there

IIRC markfiend used to have a lovely on back in the day ;)

I can't find a pic but it's the one in 'Wake', 'No Time To Cry', 'Live at The Old Grey Whistle Test' and the majority of their publicity shots around FALAA.

That coat was ace! :notworthy: Especially in combination with this silver (?), glittery longsleeve he had back then. :von: :notworthy:

Indeed, I want one to wear on nights out etc, my leather jackets are good but they are not long enough and it gets a bit hot and sweaty wearing them at student nights. I won't leave them in the cloakroom because it is at your own risk and I don't want them nicked.

This is the coat :von: famously got as a gift from the Gun Club and wore for years afterwards - a bit like the snakeskin effect grey top or the more recent flourescent yellow top. I guess the Gun Club would have sourced it from a retro clothing shop in L.A. or something equally cool. They used to sell something similar at one of the stalls/shops in Afflecks (in Manchester) back in the day but I doubt if you still can.

I thought it was a cloak he was famously given by the Gun Club. Could be wrong though.

I think we are both right. It was confirmed in a 1985 interview in one of those "10 things you never knew about Andrew Eldritch", and was described as a "coat/cloak" !! :D

There's one for sale on that Etsy - I'd be tempted, but I'm trying to reduce the amount of clutter that lives with me

Topman used to do a very similar one in their 2 for £12 section, haven't been in there for months though so you might want to check.

If it's velvet thats annoying, I genuinely hate the feel of velvet, makes me shudder. Might see if there is one in another material though.

Funny you say so. It's the same here. At first I found it interesting, not for long though. Already the view of it has a depressive touch for me... :urff:  ...
