We have to stop this...

Have you established a good reputation at HL and got some Sisters stuff to sell or trade with the community? Or are you searching for that elusive ultra rare live bootleg from 1988? Ever had a bad experience with a trader on Ebay? Let us all know here. Outdated threads will be purged over time.

Warning: Newcomers posting here first will be treated like spammers. At least have the courtesy to say hello in General Chat first...

Pah .... :urff: :urff: :urff: ...

Is there any chance to complain as there is with eBay? Perhaps that could help ... ...

I don't know - after the last experience with ebay/communicating with sellers everything feels like you can just scratch the surface a bit - much efforts, zero results.

let me know if there's anything you think i can do. i know its unlikely but i suppose t could make a difference coming from the admin of an online community? :?

plus, there's a chance i could have a word with a few people and get a complaint lodged from some more official channels ;) :innocent:

They don't go out of their way to provide a "reporting" feature do they?

I think this is the best bet

But I don't know if you need to demonstrate you own the IP.

Yup, this is their response from the email that we sent regarding the Skinny Puppy DVDs taken from the blog and being sold there:

We can - as a minimum - create an explicit thread here (and elsewhere on blogs, in the SistersWiki etc) giving pictures - not only links as they will fail sooner or later - of all such stolen recordings including the names of those sellers.

@circle.

Another option is to create your own "DCR" logo, copyright it & put it on the cover art somewhere.
You'd have a credible claim to IP rights for the artwork at least.
It won't stop it, but would serve to make it more difficult for the sellers.
Additionally, if the blog's url is also on the cover art, then people viewing the items for sale may visit the blog rather than get scammed by the sellers.
Cheers.

I do it, and also say, do not sell!!! even so they use the covers as advertisement...

When I put the multicams up for weeding i added an anti-ebay message to the start of the disc - the discs would have to be re-encoded to remove it.
Ive seen some discs that have been shared with a "for your consideration" type message burnt into the picture at a couple of points too.
Ultimately, as soon as one other person has a copy it is out of your control though

some people prefer to buy fan recording stuff than searching on the net for a free copy and are too lazy to print artwork :?

The most stupid between the seller and buyer is definitely the buyer

I've downloaded the highlights so selling them on. Sound quality varies.
LOL - that's at least honest

I wouldn't publish any future releases that aren't visually and/or audio-wised watermarked. I've read from other, usually more active tapers that they lost interest in sharing stuff at all so I guess there's less quality stuff to expect in the future. Perhaps they'll think about start sharing incomplete 64kb/s MP3 filesets one day - for the enthusiasts..

One solution would be to undercut that person on ioffer by advertising them yourself, and sell download links for 1 penny/1 cent (since it probably doesn't allow you to sell something for free.)
Or instead of "Any questions please ask" like that person has, you can have "for a free download link please ask".
