BBC Radio 2: The People's Songs

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

The Love Cats - A Peculiarly British Style to be broadcast (quelle surprise) on 30th October 2013. No mention of the Sisters, but there's still time to change that; send them your comments and stories.

It also suggests that (The) (Southern) (Death) Cult were from Leeds ! I always thought that they were from Bradford (apart from Astbury, obviously, who was raised by wolves in the American West then adopted by a tribe of Native Americans). Hope the series is going to be better researched than that. Looks like it will be just the same old hoary clichés linking industrial decline with music that pre-dated it (with Thatcher not elected until May '79). Will Maconie try to find a link between the decline of coal mining in Wigan and the rise of Northern Soul ? I doubt it. I bet he plays "It's Grim Up North", too.

Had a lovely chat with (producer) Laura from the BBC last night, talking about goth culture and the Sisters; she thinks that Temple Of Love has been selected for the show's playlist.

Hopefully some of my ramblings will make the broadcast on the 30th. :)
