Me and mrsfiend are off to New York for a week (back on Monday 29th)

I might (might) get a chance to get on t'Internet while I'm away (I understand that they do have the web in America) but I'm not banking on it. Everybody behave yourselves while I'm gone!

I don't know any city that is so exciting to visit, and especially for the first time of course!
Still today the only place in the world with true 24h public transport.
Paris makes me stressed, London makes me poor, NYC makes me energized ;D

Great place to visit.

I highly recommend MOMA (nevermind the Pollocks, check out the Francis Bacons) and the Morgan Library (they have 2 original copies of the Gutenberg Bible and various other antique books)

Also, for the authentic NYC Diner experience, I suggest breakfast/brunch/lunch at the Comfort Diner at 214 East 45th Street (near corner of 3rd Avenue). I highly recommend the blueberry pancakes with maple syrup.

Agreed. An absolute wonder. Don't miss it.

Greenwich Village is a good antidote if you need time to kick back. There's one or two good record shops where I was amazed at some of the vinyl they've got up on the walls. There are also loads of tiny food outlets pocketed here and there:
Mamoun's Falafel House at 119 MacDougal St is a good place to grab a takeaway bite; two minutes round the corner to Washington Square is a brilliant place for people watching.
If you like Indian food you could do worse than head for Thelewala at 112 Macdougal St. Again, it's an unassuming takeaway but served streetfood like I'd never seen in the UK. And the masala chai tea you serve yourself straight out of an urn was brilliant on a hot afternoon.
