Hi peeps,
Just wondered if anyone was going to leeds festival this year and what days. Im only doing the Saturday this year. Morals wont allow me to see Metallica and the Sunday is a bit dull.
So count me in for Saturdays street kiddy/skate punk thing... I know, terrible but i like Linkin / Blink / Placebo / Finch / Datsuns and Bowling for soup etc...
So, any more for any more ?
paddy.
Leeds festival... anyone going ???

Not sure yet, my mates band sawthroat won battle of the bands last year in Morley and so won the right to play there (bless their wee bums) so I might 'have' to go
Only a paand.

Friday only for me, Paddy. But you know that anyway cuz I told you last Sunday.
And I'm escorting Ginger on the Friday too...she needs someone to watch her bag whilst she sleeps the whole bloody day!!
If truth be known would preer to be there on the Sat,,,freakin Metallica what have I done??
It looks like I'm gonna have to do far more wandering this year....80's Matchbox being the only draw for me but there's a few others in that tent...oh and aren't Primal Scream playing that day too?? According to Debaser law that means they'll be on t the same chuffin time

Five cups of coffee just to be myself...when I'd rather be somebody else

'eck! Does that mean at some point we're going to have to move
Dayum........saying that I've been practising a 'scooting along sat down on various bits of plastic sheeting'....I think it may be a bit of a go-er...albeit NOT attractive

We'll be alright if we have to go downhill then.
What speeds can you achieve on "various bits of plastic sheeting"? I mean, are we talking mach 3 here...breaking the speed barrier, or could I possibly walk faster

Friday only, BECAUSE Metallica are playing. System and the Primals should merry things along quite nicely, but really they're just classy warm-ups.
Do people actually dislike Metallica cos of the Napster thing? Jesus wept, who gives a flying f&@k? Get out more. It's a butt to a bad back tooth that Eldo would behave in exactly the same way if he had ever found himself in the same situation. But regardless, so what?
They'll kick ass, see you there Scardy - maybe THIS time we'll manage to meet, and I suspect re-enact exactly what we'd have done had we managed it in the Dam.

I just think that they are ultimately biting the hand that got them where they are now.... ie the kids. Odd that they didnt sue anyone when their tracks were being ditributed earlier in their career as bootlegs etc.
I write stuff myself and have had it released and im all for file sharing.
That said, i think you are probably right about Eldo, but as yet he hasnt done anything drastic about it.
For the record i think Metallica are one of the most influential bands there are and undeniably one of the best live acts around, but personally i wouldnt p*ss on the fuckers if they were on fire.
Paddy.

Yup, I thoroughly enjoyed their surprise set at Donnington.
But it was a sort of guilty pleasure standing there thinking "those c**t aint half bad...."

Well as predicted by Paddy...Fri was pap! And yes as precited by me the only two bands I wanted to see overlapped.
Grrrrrrrrr 80's whastsitythingy were brillo but I left them early to 'powerwalk' (me flipflops went warp factor....) back to watch Primal Scream.....wish I hadn't bothered they were appalling. Funny band really, when they are good they are very, very good and when they are bad they're horrid!
Ah well, it was the company I went for...and they were on top form.
Oh and of all the places...Leeds train station 3 am in the morning....there was Scardwel. Lovely to see you again hunn.
Paddy's just texted some gubbins about today's the day with the 'real music'....grrrrrr

Metallica rocked!
Kicked off the set with Battery then Master of Puppets - went on to play Creeping Death, No Remorse, Sanitarium, Seek and Destroy, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Enter Sandman, Harvester of Sorrow, Nothing Else Matters, Sad but True, Blackened, And Justice for All,
No songs from Load...played Fuel from Reload...played only two songs from St. Anger. These boys know what we want and we bloody well got it. F*cking brilliant!
Scardwell mentioned they didn't play One, that would have been the icing on the cake but I'm not about to complain with what I did get.

Damn!!!
Wrote a really long review and had to sign in again... lost the lot!!!!
and stop sighing with relief!
ok.... so the brief version.....
IN ME - Good opener.... better live than on the album!
BOWLING FOR SOUP - Great bubblegum party punk, got the crowd going!
FINCH - Love the album, but live a big dissapointment for me...
LESS THAN JAKE - Big favourate with the Leeds festival having played last year. Went down very well indeed, not my cup of tea the ska thing but the were very good!
THE DATSUNS - Suprise of the day!!! Fantastic !!!
STAIND - Went to buy an ice cream......
THE DARKNESS - The darlings of the day for the crowd. They were very good indeed! Surreal for me to see a guy i was at technical college studying with now frionting a band and on the huge screens.... fantastic!
PLACEBO - Dependable, edgy, different... Placebo really. Good set, all up temp numbers!
BLINK 182 - Wanted to see them for a while. They are what they are but ive always thought write excellent catchy tunes Sadly the guitarist was absolutely wasted and the band tention was there for all to see..... still very entertaining
LINKIN PARK - I love the albums etc and expected a carbon copy live.... they didnt dissapoint. Great execution of album songs... but that was all. Still really enjoyed it due to the quality of the content and the fact that the singer was taken aback by the UK audience being so lively
So all in all..... better than FRI from the sounds of it... just wish we could have had GOOD CHARLOTTE from the Saturday instead of STAIND and perhaps AFI opening the day.
Downside im burnt to f**k and bright red!
Paddy.
