Aw man, I miss those stop-motion effects that he was so good at. CGI makes things too easy.

A sad loss. RIP Ray

Stop motion looks more real because, well, it is. A true giant (or possibly cyclops) of the film industry and cited as a major influence by pretty much everyone in special effects.

So, Ray Harryhausen has stopped motion

I thought his stuff was absolutely wonderful

A true trail-blazer. As you say overtaken by CGI but there doesn't seem to be much art in it now

RIP

A vanished art and one of the true greats; many's the weekend afternoon spent in front of the old VCR. I'll be digging out the original Clash of the Titans to commemorate this - so long Ray!

He came to our school to give us a talk when I was 13. I was utterly transfixed. He seemed a very humble bloke who just loved what he did and found himself lucky enough to have a hobby for a job.
