Some records etc

I've been going through some cupboards etc and uncovered a large pile of old 7" records and some cassettes. I'm probably never going to play these again, so I wondered if anyone on HL would be interested in them?
I don't have an eBay account, and selling old records etc in NZ isn't really going to work - we just don't have the population, and it seems to me that the most interest here is in NZ bands when it comes to collecting.
The 3 specific Sisters recordings I saw were
• This Corrosion 7" boxset
• Long Train flexi (from the 12" Walk Away)
• This Corrosion cassingle
but I do have quite a bit of 'other' 7" singles if anyone collects 80-90s alternative music generally. For example, I definitely saw some records by The Glove, Creatures, Wasted Youth, Fad Gadget etc etc.
Feel free to drop me a message if you want. I'm not really looking to make a fortune here, but I would like some cash for them. However, I do want them to go to people who are genuinely going to enjoy 'em.

Don't worry, that's because most people here have all those records already ...
...
However, it's recommended to detail shipping cost at discogs ...
That's what the "Seller's Information" is for (among other things, but mostly this) ...
...
How much would be shipping to Germany for a 7"

Never understood the obsession with shipping costs? If you want the item, then the postage will be what it is?
We have the same thing here in NZ on local classified ad sites - every 10 items you list you'll get someone saying "how much to mail to XYZ"
1. It will cost what it costs - there's nothing anyone can do about what your local mailing operation charges...
2. It's a lazy question. It puts more onus on the seller to do the legwork, for a 'buyer' who then moves on, scanning ever more pages to find something that is 10c cheaper then the last...
With regret I'm willing to bet the older you get it's gets harder to understand the internet and harder to forget.
I don't doubt that HL members have a lot of records - bootlegs in particular it would seem.

But as most of us are scattered around the world, some in the US, various areas of Europe, it's a valid question. Postage can vary ALOT, especially between cds, 7"'s and LPs. If you're ordering an lp worth 15$ and shipping is $20, then what's the point? That's WHY people want to know. Not everyone is miraculously versed on every single countries shipping costs throughout the world, hence why they ask, and if, as a seller you're going to be telling the buyer to go figure out their own postage costs each time, well quite simply no-ones going to make much of an effort to buy from you, that's just how it is.

Exactly, Memnarch!
If buying a vinyl or a CD from the US or AUS includes shipping cost of double the price of the item ...
...
then hell, I'll wait until someone in Europe or even in my country has it on offer ... and that day will definitely come ...
Also this does, of course, account even more the less mint the respective item is.

Of course I could say 'No it doesn't' if only to add a little perspective.

Yes, it's not necessarily so that postage rates are high ... reasonable rates do well exist, even from Australia or the US to Europe or elsewhere.
However, if you buy a thing from the US on eBay today, want it delivered to Europe and pay by PayPal,
then you are automatically forced into shipping cost of about $20, no matter whether the item is only $5 ... and why?
Allegedly for reasons of "security" ...
Honestly, I think I've heard that argument somewhere before ...
...
For sure, this will reduce business between Europe and the US. Very saddening ...
Also I think it understandable, that people want to know what to expect in additional cost.
It's not everybody who can live without calculation and spread their money to wherever asked for in any amounts ...

Are you serious, Bearskin?
It's not weird to ask about what one needs to pay in total, item + transport.
It is what it is, of course, but the buyer does have to pay for that.
For example: I had an Oasis promo 12" for sale on Discogs. People from various places were asking about shipping costs. There was one from Brazil and I had to charge 20€ (those are the regular postal rates!) for a 7,5€ record. The guy declined and I very well understood...

If I'm asked to provide postage costs I will of course. What one member seemed to be suggesting is that I go to Sellers info and put in postage costs
to everywhere in advance...?
However - how many times have you gone and found out the costs - often measuring packages etc, only to hear not a peep from the "interested" party afterwards? I get about 3 such questions a week and it's generally a waste of (my) time.
Also worth noting that the records I've sold on discogs, not one buyer has asked about the postage costs in advance. They would have accepted that they wanted the item, and understood where my location was, and that postage costs "will be what they will be".
In fact, one sale to Northern America the mailing price cost 3 dollars only...

Since i'm sure you're a genuine buyer and this will result in a sale.
One 7" single, regular cover, one piece of extra card for protection, in a plastic envelope: to Europe. NZ$5.10.

Wowsa, I found your discogs page and you've got that God Machine 7" to sell
It ain't cheap, but I'm pretty interested in that one.

Nice. Yes, I've listed a
few things on there. So far just a handful of 7" singles. I'm in no great hurry to sell anything, but since they've been sitting unplayed for a while, I thought I'd see how it went... Generally I hope you'll find that if I have something to sell, that it's less than most other listings.
Not everything is spectacular or rare or expensive, but there are a few treasures (but no Leeds Underground I'm afraid). I haven't listed many of the true gems, but there are a couple of tempters in amongst. I suppose I'm hoping that someone might want, for example, an old punk classic like Violators or Abrasive Wheels - which are harder to find, and then think that since they're buying one thing that they might as well pitch in for a few others as well - even it's just an old Siouxsie single for a couple of quid.
I actually have some pretty good 'pop' stuff as well, but I thought I would probably do that in a bulk lot - but do you know if that's possible on discogs - or is it all single items? I also have a few bits and pieces of ephemera - ticket stubs, posters, flyers etc - is there a way to flag that for sale (other than ebay)?

It's a good time to sell your old punk stuff - I was down in Blackpool over the weekend and the Rebellion festival is as popular as ever (some pretty sorry cases wandering around too !).
Have never understood why The God Machine became so collectable. They were just one of many excellent bands of that era but my double vinyl "Scenes" LP is apparently now worth £50 !

On Discogs it's all piece by piece. Selling things in bulk is not possible I'm afraid. I don't really know about alternatives to Ebay either...

Yeah, but there were only small quantities available and most of their releases didn't get a decent repress... Their 2nd album is worth even more on vinyl!
But for me they were way better than most of the bands of that era and a lot more intense.
They still mean the world to me and it's about 20 years ago they ceased to exist because Jimmy was just irreplaceable.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to buy that 7"

Awesome awesome band. Underrated to this day - I sometimes wonder what they could've gone on to accomplish. When you look at someone like Muse being mega, TGM should have had the world (but for the tragedy).
BTW - the sticker that's for sale with this. I'm not sure that it is 'part of' the release. I think I was just given it when I bought the record as a giveaway. It's about the width of the 7" sleeve so I always just kept it in there - never really one for putting stickers on things... Could be that it is technically way way rarer than the actual 7" single?? lol
I'd be stoked for this to go to someone that it will mean a lot to.
Sold my mint copy of Paranoid Android blue vinyl to a lass in Aus the other day, and she was made up with it... all good

Don't get me wrong, I love TGM too but am just surprised that an album that made the mainstream UK Top 60 album chart can be worth that much (having said that, I have a relatively early Iron Maiden Top 40 hit that seems to go for a similar price.
I take the point about TGM's brooding intensity - Scenes seems to be the missing link between Faith and Unknown Pleasures. But there were lots of other bands - Dr Phibes, The Telescopes, Big White Stairs, The Catherine Wheel, The Longpigs etc etc - who had the power to move but who seem to have been forgotten.
Sorry to hijack your thread @Bearskin but as it's promoting TGM I'm sure you'll forgive me. @radiojamaica It's worth tracking down the CD of Home too as it features TGM's version of Double Dare.

I do have the Home 12", but Double Dare is not on there...
