I don't know where this information turned up first, but I wonder ... it does not seem true to me ...

He's not named as one of the Chorus of vengeance on the Gift sleeve.
He is mentioned in the Floodland thanks. As I've posted in various threads discussing who did what on that album, those thanks seem to be grouped into two separate lists - first the friends etc and second the people who actually performed on the album. Carl's in the first list. I reckon that if he'd actually played on the album he'd be in the second list. But, as the wiki says, he was one of the guys who mimed in various TV appearances. (I can't verify this cos I don't know him from Adam but I think others here have.)

I think the two of you are talking at cross-purposes
The idiom in English "I don't know him from Adam" means (roughly) "I've no idea who he is". I think the Adam concerned is the one from the book of Genesis, not Adam Peason

Yes, my first thought was that
Being645 wasn't aware of the idiom but then I thought that maybe it was a joke.
