Hello!
I Swedish rock journalist has just rated "Floodland" as one of the top 10 rock albums of all time. Though I am glad that Sisters of Mercy got the attention I seriously doubt if one actually can mention Sisters of Mercy at all without "First and Last..." and "Some Girls...". To me, the quintessence of Sisters is in the first albums, and the rest is better than most but really... can you call yourself a rock journalist and rate "Floodland" as the best one? It could be that he actually never heard the first albums but I doubt that.
What is your opinion about this?
Cheers,

the debate around this very question is currently 'raging' on another active chat. For some context, what were the other nine or do you have a link you could share?

Everybody knows that The Perfect Prescription is the best LP, but it does have the slight complication that it's not a Sisters LP.

That top 10's not bad at all, but his choice of hiphop is not mine...

I was at the de Montfort Hall in '73 where most of the "Genesis Live" was recorded.
"Floodland" is the best of the Sisters output because you don't have to be a Sisters fan to like it. It transcends personal bias it is so well crafted.
The best album ever is "1.Outside".

Oh, we're very varied in taste here. Some of us prefer the earlier stuff, some of us don't. Some of us like guitars, some prefer synths. Some like mutant dub/funk/metal, some like classical rock/pop, some like towering bombast.
One thing we're not is religious or precious about any of it. We do enjoy the occasional squabble about YCBTO, but it's all in good faith and with a sense of fun and friendship, not to mention a keen understanding that others' tastes differ.
We're also not elitist. Nobody prefers the earlier stuff just because it's earlier, or the more obscure stuff just because it's obscure. Good music is good music and factors such as that are largely irrelevant.

that is a very weird top 10!
Floodland is the best LP yes, but that don't mean it has the best songs on it (or something like that)
