any clue what the "because" is the the front logo of the new shirts?

The long answer is:
is a linguist, apparently speaks German quite well, lives in Germany. In German, "because" translates to "weil".
has repeatedly said that he sees his music as "a Threepenny Opera that goes like a freight-train painted in the shiniest blues and yellows."
Threepenny Opera is a collaboration between Berthold Brecht and Kurt
Weill - the "because" reference on the shirt is an "in-joke" that is expected that some people don't get (and don't feel bad if you didn't get it - you won't believe how long it took me to work out why the 1997 tour was called "Distance Over Time"
).

I'd be glad to know why the 97 tour it's called Distance over time
(It's it connected to Speed? that's what i imagine)

Just so absurdly
. Spent my whole adolescence trying to pull off that kind of humour, and never quite managing

i'm practicing that kind of humor in my muttersprache - people get that very rarely. not that it stopped me.

Precisely - Distance/Time=Speed, which apparently was the chemical of choice back when the band lived "above the chemist".

I jjust read it as an answer to "why should I go see the Sisters in 2014?"
"because".
Good as any other answer, really.

It's just like "Gift" in reverse. Gift, of course, being German for poison.

So it's German for "antidote"? Or poison for Germans?

Why no new album
"because"
Why no bassist?
"because"
Why are you mumbling?
"because"

"because f**k you" would be better answers to such rude questions, imo.

i thought the significance was that it was there all alone... and therefore, as i've written a few times in various threads, .... it becomes : just because ...

i was dead happy that i got it as soon as i saw the merch, then wandered round in a drunken (drugged) state telling everyone i bumped into at the venue
