A request for you evilbay dwellers

Just wanted to ask you to be on the lookout for a tambourine.
It's not a joke.
The Cure auctioned a load of collectibles to raise cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust & a friend of mine from Brazil paid a seriously pretty penny for a tambourine signed by Roger O'Donnell.
She had it delivered to a friend in the UK who was going to forward it to her in Brazil.
The royal snail delivered it somewhere & posted this "signature" as proof of delivery

The tambourine looks like this

If any of you spot it on evilbay or any other auction site, could you please drop me a PM?

Thanks in advance.

Royal Mail are shit Steve, and have got worse since I left. 8 years ago.

I'll keep an eye on German EvilBay, but maybe post a PM to Vicus to up it on PD and you'll be covering all your bases?

Thanks for the tip.
I think I'll do that.
Of course, tweeting & farcebooking it would help too.

:D

I'll keep an eye on German EBay and some other European sites as well.

Sending a pm to Vicus is good idea :!:

However, I think most members of PD are on HL as well (like you and me Johnny, although I don't have a clue re your nickname on PD...), so consider your request wide spread

I'm not on PD.
Can't really figure it out yet
Vicus PM sent

I will post the link to your HL post on PD tomorrow (can't do this from my mobile) and ask the PD people to support you (if Johnny, Being645 or other PD members aren't faster than me) ...

FYI, I made it to post the HL link from my mobile. So your request is now on PD. I called the thread "Bitte um Unterstützung" ie. " request for help / support".

So does the tracking indicate the right adress? Calling the parcel service might also reveal more informations than you can see online. Perhaps it's also possible to file some sort of investigation request. Is it unrealistic that it got delivered close to the destination and had been signed by a kid. Kids like to hide things^^

Havent't dealt with ebay search features but iirc it was possible to monitor individual search keywords and get a mail if something shows up.

No info on that front unfortunately.
There's a signature that looks like a bad etch-a-sketch drawing
The buyer is in touch with royal snail but getting the usual "looking into it" stuff.
The package is marked with Teenage Cancer Trust logos etc.
Looks like the postie just rocked up somewhere close & got a fake sig for it.

evilbay & RM aren't very much help. The TCT are also looking into it & it's going a bit viral on The Cure sites too.

The lady who won it is on twitter. @Dizzy_edge_ is her account. if anyone sees it please tweet her .
She's heartbroken at the mo.

Ahhh, so sorry to hear about this, just saw it on Craig's Chain of Flowers site - plenty Curehead eyeballs on the lookout, mine included, hope it gets sorted!

I'm sure we all know people in the media.

Max it up.

Oh, that's bad. Hopefully, it turns up without anybody trying to sell it.
Anyway, I keep my eyes open as well.

I can't really do much to help, but for future reference, I always get things delivered to my work. I figure that something addressed to the University of Leeds is a lot less likely to go missing than something addressed to 22 Acacia Avenue.

Thanks again everyone.
Appreciate the help :D

It took me a while to understand this topic.

We'll do our very best.

Presumably the person who signed for it didn't realise it wasn't for them and just signed like we all would. So MAYBE they'll do the decent thing and try and get it to its rightful owner. It doesn't automatically follow that the person who received it by accident is a bad person and will try and capitalise on this.

Thanks for that. :notworthy:

@stufarq
I hope you're right.
The packages were all marked with the TCT logos etc.
The royal snail say they are "looking into it" but TBH I think that's just lip service.
Practically the entire The Cure world is on the lookout & now most of the Sisters world are too :notworthy:
It'll be fairly hard to shift it on an auction site with that many eyes on the ball (I hope)

at what point does ebay's own money-back guarantee stop covering the transaction? i bought a 3ds for my son at christmas but the seller turned out to be a wrong-un and the item never arrived (great timing you wankers)- ebay eventually gave me a full refund out of their own pockets. i know that's not ideal but if your friend paid a lot for it then the money back might be some consolation. presumably the band has received her money and forwarded it to the charity? or perhaps the band might consider sending another? i'm sure they can stretch to another tambourine...

It was the TCT who held the auction. There was loads of stuff from all the bands that took part in the shows.
I guess evilbay's money-back should still apply, but it's not so much about the £358.
I'm hoping against all hope that Roger will perhaps see the chatter on the interwebs & step up. He's a nice bloke, so fingers crossed

Royal Mail wont do s**t because they are the laziest, most unreliable bunch of f**king asshats ever. I refuse to post valuable stuff with them. Case in point when I got my first Body Electric single (which i payed a decent amount for), requested it be sent special delivery, seller did so, Royal Mail fired it through the letter box without even knocking and postie signed it for me. How very f**king kind of him  Luckily I was watching as he did it and challenged him on it, that I paid for postage where I had to receive AND sign for MY item IN PERSON. Que a whole load of excuses blah blah blah for your convenience. f**k off, if it had of been delivered to the wrong address I'd never have seen it again, something which happens the odd time to me, and also something which I payed the best postage option to avoid. Wrote a complaint to the RM, reply back offering free stamps, told them to shove them up their f**king hole.

I totally agree but 1% of the time someone does make the effort.

I'm reminded of when Our Man in Estonia asked me to bid on a mint BE for him as the eBay seller wouldn't ship there.

He/We won and I shipped it to Estonia the day after I received it.

I submitted my costs and he confirmed the ca$h was in the post 24hrs later.

A few days later...

7am:
(knock, knock)
Postie: "Do you know anyone in Estonia?"
JR7: "Yes."
Postie: "What's his name?"
JR7: "Indrek. And an unpronounceable surname."
Postie: "What are you expecting?"
JR7: "A re-used jiffy bag with a CD in a slim-line jewel case."
(Postie whips a re-used jiffy bag from behind his back, has a feel and hands it to me.)
JR7: "Thanks."
Postie: "Tell your friend, the whole address always helps."

Indrek had written my name, town and postcode. Totally omitting the house number, street and country!

Inside, concealed within that jewel case, was my ca$h.

I still smile to this day. :)

Did they pay via Paypal as I know them very well (long story) and can provide UK Managing Directors email and phone number if this helps (only if paypal was used though)
