Sorry, think there's already a section for this. But anyone know the best way to protect Wordpress upload directories from 'bots' in China? The Abridged website is being attacked continually apparently. I have wordfence and the like but it seems like upload directories (which I didn't know existed - not being a great tech type) are still vulnerable. Any help or best plug-in suggestions appreciated! :notworthy:

if you're not uploading anything then just chmod your upload directories to 555.

Ta. :notworthy: Though found a plug-in that stops outside browsing of the directories. Always try and avoid coding!

it's not code, it is just a command given once for the existing directories. or give in the future for any new directory you make :)

useful to keep it for an emergency later

Ah ta! Will keep it in mind. Am not the greatest tech person in the world. I can do the basic things but it didn't even occur to me that you could by-pass security and download things that have been uploaded directly (so to speak) from the directories.
