Sorry, think there's already a section for this. But anyone know the best way to protect Wordpress upload directories from 'bots' in China? The Abridged website is being attacked continually apparently. I have wordfence and the like but it seems like upload directories (which I didn't know existed - not being a great tech type) are still vulnerable. Any help or best plug-in suggestions appreciated!

if you're not uploading anything then just chmod your upload directories to 555.

Ta.
Though found a plug-in that stops outside browsing of the directories. Always try and avoid coding!

it's not code, it is just a command given once for the existing directories. or give in the future for any new directory you make
useful to keep it for an emergency later

Ah ta! Will keep it in mind. Am not the greatest tech person in the world. I can do the basic things but it didn't even occur to me that you could by-pass security and download things that have been uploaded directly (so to speak) from the directories.
