People of a certain age will be feeling a lot older today.

i am. i'm very upset, and i'm having a sniffle.
...and punks and skins and rastas will all gather round and hold their hands in sorrow for their fallen leader. And all the grown-ups will say, "But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say, "Haven't you heard? Rick is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"

Lord Flashheart, Lord Flashheart,
I wish you were the star.
Lord Flashheart, Lord Flashheart,
you're sexier by far.
Farewell, Rik.

awful news, i'm really upset by this. not only was his comedy a mainstay of my younger years but his recent portrayal of the dad in "man down" demonstrated what an exceptional actor he was as well as a very funny guy. the "dancing queen" comedy drama with helena bonham carter also stands out as a favourite.
R.I.P. Rik.
you will be missed.

I still remember seeing him on TV the first time as Kevin Turvey, then on to The Young Ones, Lord Flashheart, The Dangerous Brothers, Filthy Rich and Catflap, as B'Stard in The New Statesman, Bottom.....
Last saw him in 2006 here on stage in Glesga in "The Blair B'Stard Project". I and the rest of the audience roared with laughter for hours.

Pollution, all around
sometimes up
and sometimes...
down.
But always
around.
Bombs.
This news hit me like the proverbial bombshell. Childhood hero, very lovely man... forever the Peoples Poet.
RIP Rik. There shall be none like you.<3

It's s**t news, 56 was far too young for Rik to go.
Touching to see all the love for the brilliant, crazy bastard across the interwebs & beyond.
