I woke up, brushed teeth, walked with my dog, bought fresh bread, made breakfast, turned on laptop, checked fb (because I'm using it also as news feed because I 'liked' tons of newspapers): teh guardian - interview with Robin Williams (on fb lead quote, more or less, that after death more likely every famous ones will have big shine statue made by other) - to read later, 'cause I have to do something else; telegraph - another interview with R.W. - strange; scroll down ... and kick in the face. And then info that he probably took his life. So f**king sad news. We'll see if it could change view on depression in society; it would be nice to wake some awareness, consciousness about what is depression. Couple weeks ago I watched some of his stand up appearances.

sad, yes. but more so that he felt he had no choice but to end his life. as bartek says it would be nice to see society improve the way it understands and deals with depression. his choice to die perhaps but not his first choice i daresay and certainly not his family's.

a talent lost for sure. mork and mindy was a part of my growing up and his early stand-up was funny as fuck.

Quite. I posted elsewhere that depression is NOT the sole property of angsty teenaged 1D fans who can't get Harry Styles to follow them on twitter & then get the hump.
It's very real & very scary even to those who genuinely suffer from it.
& even some sufferers don't quite understand it & are afraid to even do anything about it.

After few times when you think that there's no point trying, doing anything, what leads you to think what would be most effective way to get the f**k out from here, you may "get used to" it. Of course it hang over your neck like a executioner's sword or axe, but it's just not gonna be used now. Maybe tomorrow, but not today.

I was listening to the radio when it was announced. Put Dead Poets Society on straight after and got a big fat lump in my throat.

Despised Mrs Doubtfire, only film I've ever walked out of at the cinema but I loved him to bits otherwise.

I always thought of Robin Williams as one of those tragic-clown types. He was often hilariously funny but I always thought his comedy was fighting for control against his deeper sadness.

his family revealed this morning that he had early parkinson'e disease, so perhaps that knowledge tipped him over the edge.

Most likely. Layers of burdens and depression on top of it.

Knowing what one is going to expect due to Parkinson has an depressing effect

on anyone, I guess ... think you can't joke spontaneously like that any longer ... ...
