Sorry mates but there's one thing I have to know but I don't :oops: :innocent:
You can laugh on me but...
Please tell me what means "CBE"?
I mean, for example:
"Novelist and biographer Peter Ackroyd becomes a CBE after the success of his 800-page London: The Biography."

its an award given from the queen, basically for getting on a bit and having done something notable. allegedly.

we also have OBE's. they are a couple of steps down from being knighted.

i think the B.E. part stands for British Empire :?: :roll:

or how could i name it with other words - is he a nobleman now?
(sorry, this is absolutely not-sisters-related, i just have to finish an article about Ackroyd for tomorrow)
