Thanks again for posting, @Joy. Am intrigued by the reference to a reissue of Body and Soul charting in 1988. I have no recall of that event at all. Can anyone shed any more light on it ?

I've no recollection of the single being re-released. I never saw any advertisements in the music press or anywhere at the time for any such re-release.
Could it have been a case of new fans going out and buying any of their old singles that were still available, and original releases of Body And Soul (which was still available) being bought to appear in the lower end of the charts. Probably at number 90-something... and then the article writer seeing that chart entry and jumping to conclusions??

It's not listed in the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles, although it may have charted lower than that book covers (I think it only includes top 75 singles).
On the other hand, Lucretia, which did chart in 1988, shares a b-side with Body and Soul, so maybe the confusion has somehow arisen from that.

probably then too. but 88 followed FL, 90 for VT

According to Discogs the barcodes were just the second pressing in 1984
