Poem on Andrew Eldritch
“Less is more
At the beginning he engaged Craig on the bass
Playing in clubs, some covers like “Purple Haze
Afterwards he hooked up with Wayne
For whom his apathy will always sustain
He used to live in Hamburg, Amsterdam and Leeds
Travelling all along, always finding what he needs
Later on came a life in Italy and currently in Spain
All his impressions left, will forever remain
He moved from Leeds Pudsey to Hamburg Sankt-Pauli
And was familiar with Leamington’s Aleister Crowley
Understanding German, French, Dutch, Italian and Spanish
Been there, done that, still doing it and then a silent vanish
If you listen very well on what’s on Floodland
Easy music, but strong lyrics on the other hand
From the pouring rain over Jordan to Bombay
There was so much he sung and wanted to say
What he writes is obviously oblique
Which is in fact rather unique
Full of politics and mankind on Vision Thing
This is the kind of songs he loves to sing
He lost some fans, but he won some on the other hand
But isn’t this just the case for almost any band
All the remaining fans, as well as the new, don’t mind
We don’t like to spent too much time on who’s blind
With all the new songs an album could easily be filled
It’s not so hard to understand we all would be thrilled
Anyhow, we fully respect Andrew’s choice
‘cause we can come and listen to his live voice
