If it were possible to do so, how many people would be interested in this idea? I know that it's something I'd like, the ux on this site is terrible Quiffy you should be ashamed ;-)

Basically what I'm asking is whether it's worth my effort to try to put in place...

Works fine on my iPhone. Maybe others would benefit though?

Oh yes. Top idea.
Although I can access the full site on my moto x, the writing is microscopic & it's pot luck hitting a linky with my big sausage fingers :D

Do it!! :notworthy:

What happened to our (mine, yours and LazCorp's) attempts at creating a new responsive theme for Heartland though?

Tbh, I think a better option would be to upgrade to the latest version of phpBB 3 and then direct people to the Tapatalk app. (the current version of the forum software doesn't integrate with tapatalk)

Upgrading would mean we'd loose a few features from the site, such as:

1) the connection between forum user accounts and the gallery would break, meaning we'd need to do some work to either re-integrate the gallery into the new version or to separate it completely (back to how the gallery software is by default)

2) we'd lose forum members' birthdays as they're currently an add-on the newer version of phpbb includes a different way of dealing with them by default.. we'd have to port them over afterwards using some kind of sql script)

3) we'd lose the themes we currently have (not necessarily a bad thing )

So we'd have to make a call on which features we restored after the upgrade.

The thing is, the current themes appear just to be sets of Smarty templates, and they're pretty easy to knock up. I've done it before, and I think I could get one together that generates good, compliant html5 pretty sharpish. I'm still off work and I need to ease myself back into web programming.

I won't announce a deadline, and I don't guarantee I'll even finish it...

A nice black theme is essential.
Go on, Marky, give it a go!

I thought I was the only one who used the IGM style. Don't know why

Tapatalk was dreadful when I tried it on PistaWorld. I had no smileys or anything!

The desktop website works great on my Moto X. I don't have sausage fingers though

Can you see from the access logs who uses what to view here? I'm sure it's worth markfiends effort! :notworthy:

I am happy accessing HL on my phone via t'internet, but am intrigued as to how an app would be different (in layman's terms).

I was going to post this earlier, but had to whizz to the vet with Millhouse.
Not sure what it means in terms of impact on search results though. It's not like there are very many The Sisters Of Mercy forums & HL comes top when searching myheartland anyway.

Just read that Bing is going to do the same as google & boost mobile friendly sites in search ratings
