FPL GW35: Preview, update and review (Deadline 02May 11:30)

Nine wins in the last ten GWs see IGM move into cruise control with a 591pts lead. They are within touching distance of lifting the inaugural The Sisters vs. The Cure inter forums trophy. 8)

However, EIB's Head Coach Pista remained upbeat about his team's chances in today's pre-match conference.

"We're still in with a mathematical chance. All we need is a +148 Gameweek differential for the next four Gameweeks and the title is ours."

When asked by a reporter if there was more chance of Hell freezing over, the Sun falling from the Sky, and the Earth to stop spinning, he replied "Possibly."

So with the overall competition nearly wrapped-up, I had a quick look at the personal standings:

1. 1916 - FC Bennweg-Zeis 1921 (+68 )
2. 1848 - Spiritwalkers (+37)
3. 1811 - Charlotte's Carnage

I do genuinely think the gold, silver and bronze will be decided between these three teams. But elsewhere, there are some intriguing positional battles going on. :)

Unfortunately, IGM also occupy the bottom position:

22. 1368 - LONG ISLAND UTD

Whilst Hom is facing another Derbyesque experience, and relegation from the top flight, I can assure him that myself and Pista are working tirelessly behind the scenes to negotiate a spot for him in the Dollar vs. Bucks Fizz inter forum trophy next season.

C'mon IGM! :von:

Good luck all.

A couple of seasons ago...

I play in a mini-league with my old school friends. Nathan Dyer (SWA) had had a blinder the GW before (2 goals, 2 assists) so Kev duly transferred him in and stuck the Alice band on him. SWA v someone was the early Saturday kick-off.

However, Dyer had a training ground fisty-cuffs with someone midweek, so Laudrup demoted him to the bench. The tail of the tape was...

61min: Dyer is subbed on (+1)
63min: Dyer makes a reckless challenge and is YCed (-1)
66min: Dyer makes another reckless challenge and gets a straight RC (-3)

x2 (c) = -6. Ouch!

Not Kev's best start to a GW ever.

I think there was talk about Anger Management classes post-match. Whether that was Dyer or Kev, I don't know. :innocent:

Absolutely not! As you've the Alice band elsewhere.

My own personal FPL tragedy was three seasons ago. MCI vs. Blackpool in the early Saturday kick-off. A home banker so we all stuck the Alice band on Tevez. The most inform striker in FPL...

1min: Tevez starts (+1)
7min: Tevez gets a YC (-1)
12min: Tevez misses a pen (-2)
19min: Tevez pings his hammy and is subbed

x2(c) = -4

Not the ideal way to start a GW, and to this day, I do still have nightmares and wake up in cold sweats. * shudder*

Just blame it on the time difference, shrug your shoulders, and look a bit sheepish. Works for me.

He made up for it a couple of minutes later though.
I bet they rue the day they flogged Suarez. He's popped 3 in today as Barca destroyed Cordoba 8-0
