MD5 McUEFA U21: (Deadline 30Jun 20:30 CET)

It's ♫ The Final Countdown ♫ for Europe (see what I did there? ) as
Portugal and
Sweden meet in the final.
The Final
In fantasy terms, knowing the format of these tournaments, I'm pretty sure the medal placings are secure. It's very difficult to make up ground when we all have (potentially) the same teams.
Current standings:
1. 175 points - Blood Brothers (Mav787)
2. 157 points - DEngland (Johnny Rev 7.0)
3. 136 points - Malice Meow FC (catsncheese)
Though I'm sure they'll be a few sniffing around
Cats' behind and attempting to get on the medal podium.
A wiser man than me would say wait for the team sheets (which I'll post) 60mins before kick-off. Then make your transfers. You only need 11/12 players, but by all means make your transfer plans in advance.
Good luck all! Except the bas
tard who's beating me.

In reality? Yes, as I'm a firm believer in
everything's eventual. But this is
fantasy. So indulge me one more trick up my sleeve.

Have made my transfers and then realised that, as a mid-table nobody, there was no point in hedging my bets. I should have gone all or nothing to really put a bit of pressure on the top three.

For those of you still undecided, your final roll of the dice...
Portugal U21: Sá, Esgaio, Raphael Guerreiro, Paulo Oliveira, Ilori, William, Sérgio Oliveira, João Mário, Bernardo, Cavaleiro, Ricardo #U21EURO
Sweden U21: Carlgren, Lindelöf, MiloÅ¡ević, Helander, Augustinsson, Lewicki, Hiljemark, Khalili, Tibbling, Guidetti, Kiese Thelin. #U21EURO
...I'm tinkering as we speak.
Good luck all!

So all my eggs are in the one basket but will it turn out to be the right one?
(I'm baiting Johnny into picking 9 Swedes so it maximises his chances of catching me).

Haha! You sound like
Mr Gray attempting to get
Jonesey to open the door of his mind office in
Stephen King's
Dreamcatcher.
All will be revealed in less than ten minutes.

If Sweden win 1-0 from a Guidetti goal I reckon Johnny beats me again.

Cheers
I think the 0-0 after extra time and everyone getting pretty much the same points for the game shows up the flawed format. Too much money, too many transfers, too many from one team.

Umm... it's tournament football. How else do we choose when we get to the final?
Enjoy your moment in the sun and stop being so negative.
I'll update the final scores tomorrow when we get all the GSs, RBs etc., confirmed.
Congrats once again.

Well done to the top three and thanks to the organisers.
It helped to while away a fortnight of the close season, even though I haven't seen a seconds of the action and was generally a match day behind.
Europa League qualifiers start for teams up here on Thursday - bring on the new season !

It was fun and it was nice to win one for a change.
