Study: Musical Preferences are Linked to Cognitive Styles

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Crazy stuff ... I don't think listeners can be separated in only two main groups ...
Empathetic = emotional - which, IMHO, is already a wrong assumtion.
I've seen too many people who are highly emotional - as long as it's all about themselves.
Beyond that they lack any bit of empathy.

Systematic = analytic - as a catagory for listeners of "intense" music.
Given the masses of complete brainless drunkards or otherwise intoxicated people at festivals and gigs,
where do they take the idea of "analytic" from and how the hell, did they manage, on a basis like that,
to get money to fund their study :?: :lol: ...

It does seem more than a bit simplistic. But then simplistic always makes better stories.
