Heartland

Was in Waterstone's this a.m. and had a look at Dave Haslam (ex Hacienda DJ)'s new book about the history of clubbing and there is a section on the goth scene. A chapter ostensibly about the Batcave has lengthy references to TSOM and the Phono, with quotes from David Peace (author of "The Damned United") who used to go there and accurately says that the vibe was still primarily Bowie influenced in 82. Looks like a good read overall, like Haslam's other books.

Peter Hook characterizes the sort of vague, early goth scene around Joy Division as 'interesting' young men standing around in grey de-mob suits in his book about the Hacienda.
