Best Sisters support band?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. Did a a Search ...

Smart money would say Gang of Four or Public Enemy. I'm going for The Scientists. Coventry Polytechnic 1985. First Sisters gig. First gig, full stop.

Can include bands below Sisters at festivals.

Or flip it: best band the Sisters supported? Includes being below them on festival bills also.

Gun Club, surely?

I really like Black Moth, though I've not seen them live.

Course of Empire played with them on at a few US dates on the Event Horizon tour, and were always a good bet live. Initation and Telepathic Last Words are both fine records.

My favourite support were probably Flesh and Fell (Gent 85). The Furs were probably the best I saw them support. Would have loved to have seen one of the gigs where they were on with the Violets, or to have seen how they went down with the Aswad fans.
Honourable mention for Black Moth who were great in Glasgow. Love this slow-builder set opener. A kind of Kiss The Carpet for the Royal Blood generation https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f56mIDs1C-E.

More recently, iLiKETRAINS and Ulterior were fine to me, or back in 2006 Nihil.
Most support acts have, at the minimum, been interesting.
I've hardly ever seen one that I totally disliked, well maybe in 1998 ... :wink: ...

Oh yeah, I forgot that's how came across iLIKETRAINS. I really like them - The Shallows is a great record.

I was late getting to Wembley Arena so I missed them.

I'd seen them play as a support act at Liverpool Poly shortly before because a friend knew the singer so we went along. Loved them.

Gutted to miss them at Wembley

As I've grown older I've become more tolerant of DM. On the day I left midway through their set.
