We are very pleased to announce that In April 2016, Wayne will be playing a handful of European shows (dates below) to promote the release of a limited edition double A side 7 ‘’ vinyl single on Eyes Wide Shut Recordings in conjunction with Record Store Day. The single features Wayne’s stunning and haunting re-working of the classic Sisters Of Mercy song, Marian, a song originally co-written by Wayne with Andrew Eldritch.
The other A side is a brand new song entitled ‘My Love Will Protect You’, a song that was co-written by Wayne with Rebeca Y. Casanova as part of the Canciones De Cuna benefit album. The lyrics for the album are all written by homeless children in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which are then worked into songs by established national and international artists and recorded as an album of lullabies, all proceeds going to help finance culture centres in Buenos Aires that offer art, music, theatre, and photography classes to homeless children. i have no problem with charitable acts; and the fact is he co-wrote the song: re-working it is much more preferable in my eyes than A) singing non-sequitur bursts of marian in "shelter from the storm" for cheap appplause and B) changing one note of the riff and calling it wasteland.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Any good musician who wrote a guitar riff is allowed to re-work it in any way they like, examples being Jimmy Page, Ray Davies....so why not Wayne?
Its called 'Perfecting the Craft' - a well know musical idiom.
You are not stupid people, you know the best product the Gris put out was when Wayne played/co-wrote/wrote the songs....yes/no?
Stop fooling yourselves, Mr Taylor is over, there will never be another record, jeez Under The Gun was someone else's song, why not simply enjoy the fact that some members of this Pantomime actually went on and created NEW music.
Wayne himself has said his best work ever was FALAA, he held out the olive branch only 3 months ago with that one, he knows that Andy is never going to reciprocate, so carries on regardless.
Wayne gets Snubbed
Gary gets Snubbed
All hope for any decent future is being denied by Eldo himself.
Architect of his own downfall. End Of.

Ha! Nice One.
Gotta love a guy with a sense of humour.
Sorry fella, just pointing out the obvious, music is for musicians.
Pantomime is for the career challenged.........
I've followed The Girls since 83, seen them over 200 times, so don't patronise me, I'm a realist.
I also appreciate the musicianship, and respect where its due.
Go Figure.......

Sorry, I beg to differ. Don't confuse your own opinion with objective fact, please.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The material with Ben Gunn was superior. Also, Floodland is better than F&L&A.
Boiled eggs must be cracked at the big end.
Furthermore, "music is for musicians" is bollocks.

So you're a Big-Endian then?
I'll just add to this that many of us also think that side 2 of FALAA is superior to side 1.markfiend wrote:The material with Ben Gunn was superior. Also, Floodland is better than F&L&A.

As an interesting alternative... howsabout rather than trying to start a "my band is better than your band" fight... you just accept that different people have different tastes and we're all allowed like either, neither or both?YouGaveMeFlowers wrote:Piffle.

apart from the fact that pre-FALAA sisters songs (99% eldritch written) were far more definitively The Sisters, Wayne by no means wrote even half of the music for FALAA. the music for side 2 was written by Gary Marx and there isnt a weak song on side 2. (btw the music for No Time To Cry was written by all the band) so thats 4 album tracks (1 very iffy one) and 2 b-sides to husseys credit.
eldritch is quite accomplished on the guitar but cant sing and play at the same time; that doesnt mean he's not a musician. Gary Marx is a superb guitarist whose post-sisters music was also far superior to hussey's.
and in what distorted backwards reallity is wasteland a "perfection" of Marian?

Point of order: Possession was Adams/Eldritch/Hussey, so both wrote the music for four album tracks alone, Hussey co-wrote another two, Marx co-wrote one of those. Wayne's two b-sides to Gary's one but with lyrics too results in a draw and them both walking off in a hissy fit cos Von was being a git.eastmidswhizzkid wrote:Wayne by no means wrote even half of the music for FALAA. the music for side 2 was written by Gary Marx and there isnt a weak song on side 2. Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

yes i thought maybe that possession was written by them all a la no time to cry, so i stand corrected on that...but anyway i wasnt trying to prove anything with regard to Marx, simply to dismiss the notion that the gargoyle wrote all of the music for FALAA.
