And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. Was pondering a second Eurotrip in March and wanted to see what/who/if anyone was off to Vienna - only to find the 2016 tour section of the forum practically dead!

Did last year's cancellations kill off everyone's enthusiasm to the point where no one's got any desire to plan, plot, travel or even toy with the notion of these dates? Or is it just a case of people's holiday allowances have run out?

I mean, I know plenty of people are going to Brussels and even Tilburg but..... there's not even a thread about Tilburg or the second Brussels date!

Anyway, I've never been to Gasometer, hence my curiousity, plus the last few times I was in Vienna I never got to see much of the city....

Oh well.

I'll save me pennies... :P

The city is beautiful and I recommend seeing it (but then I am from there so I might be biased ;). I've never seen the Sisters at the Gasometer, but judging from the other gigs I've seen there it is an awful, awful venue. Terrible architecture, terrible acoustics. I mean idk, maybe it's got better in the past few years.

I saw them in Gasometer in 2014 (and I will see them again). That was a fantastic gig!! :oops: I have opened a topic. :wink:

There is nothing wrong with the acoustics and I didn't have any problems with the architecture either. I think a very good sound recording was made which also proves that the acoustics were fine. (there is a good view on the stage too)

I've been to the Vienna Gasometer in 2011. Walking around that building was a highlight in itself, especially, if you like photography.
AND there are more crazy buildings in sight distance ... just astonishing. Alone these views were well worth the travel for me.
Plus the lovely hotel, very close and at a favourable price (at the time).

Although allegedly, the gig in Vienna was the worst of all 2011 gigs in various attenders view maybe because The Doctor failed for a moment,
I do absolutely not agree. It was surely not sold out, but the concert was great and quite entertaining ... I loved it and I didn't find much difficulty with the sound ... ;D ;D ;D ...
As long as there are no major disturbances soundwise, things are alright with me. Sad enough, there's no recording being shared ... :( ...

However, Tilburg and Brussels are way closer to Cologne ... and I'm ruined anyway, so there's no way I go to all that many gigs ... :lol: :wink: ...

One of my top 5 venues is the gasometer.
Seen The Sisters, The Cure & Porcupine Tree there & the sound was always first class.
Being drum shaped tends to eliminate standing waves & removes the often annoying "slap back" sound you sometimes find at square venues that haven't really bothered to deal with acoustics.
The outside is a sight to behold too & Being pointed out, if you are into photos, take a camera. It's quite awesome.

Terrible architecture? But..... I just find the idea of the place amazing!

Oh I suppose each to his own taste-wise!

Acoustics for me are rarely the main draw of a venue, tbh, unless it's downright bogging....
