Warren Zevon's influence on Vision Thing lyrics?

Been listening to Linda Ronstadt's album Simple Dreams on which she covers Warren Zevon's song Carmelita which contains the following lines:
And I'm there with her in Ensenada
and
The county won't give me no more methadone
Could just be a coincidence, but there are two pretty big echoes in two Vision Thing songs from this one track...
Anyway, Linda Ronstadt's version of Carmelita is mighty fine and well worth checking out.

I hate that I'm about to say this, but
GG Allin's version of
Carmelita is really very good.

i presume what you're mishearing as "methadone" is actually "methedrome" in Vision Thing (and is written as such on the lyric sheet).
methadone is a legal heroin substitute used in the treatment of heroin addiction . "methedrome" is word play being a portmanteau word made up of, or derived from, methedrine (a street name for methamphetamine) and videodrome (see film of same name.)
ensenada is just a place in mexico so i would presume your mishearing of methadrome as methadone means he probably wasnt influenced by Zevon at all.

jeez - yes I do know the actual lyric is methadrome.
I said echo, not copy.
Also the place name is pretty distinctive to occur on two different songs.
It was just meant to be a bit of fun from something I'd spotted.
So thanks for patronising me.
No wonder I don't bother posting on here much, what an unfriendly place...

Not sure any patronising was intended & given Zevon's covers of both KOHD & the occasional Cohen song, it's probable he was on Von's radar to work his own brand of lyrical alchemy .

no patronising intended, merely replying to your post with my opinion. however if you are that sensitive i advise you avoid the Lyrics section....
....as for Heartland being unfriendly: what colour is the sky where you live?
