GW38: Deadline 14:00 Sunday 15th May

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

So here we are in the final game week. Well done to everyone who has stuck with it all the way through. :notworthy:

Remember that every move up the league by 1 place gets you an extra £1 million. Hold on that's not right, its better than that, it gets you SATISFACTION and that's better than money surely?

This weekend is bound to be a complete lottery as players discover slight injuries to keep them out to protect themselves for the European Championships and in the case of Liverpool the whole team has the weekend off to prepare themselves for the Europa Cup final.

Don't leave until we've had the trophy presentation and we've gathered with our families to walk around the stadium and take the applause of our supporters.

Last match, so last chip thrown in.
All out attack this week :)
Will be interesting to see who Klopp picks though. I dumped Sturridge to be on the safe side.
Righto. Best be off to the guard of honour rehearsal
Cheers.

Upset to see that news unfolding. Better abandoned than chance of anyone being hurt.
If it's not a hoax, the repercussions will be unpleasant

device involving a phone, strapped to a pipe in the loos.
am assuming it was viable, but they haven't said.
fans have said how orderly and calm the evacuation was, praising police and club.
good to hear - at least something good...

update - police say it wasn't viable.

That pleases me.
That gives them less time to rest up before the FA cup final ;)

Turns out it was a training device used in a security exercise recently.
Oh my. That's awkward.
Still, heartening to know that if it had been the real thing, the stewards & emergency services did a brilliant job of getting everyone clear unhurt.

there are calls for Man U to apologise. not sure any of this is their fault, and they seem to have done everything right.
am i missing something? (likely, given the utter knackered state i'm in)

The way it works is that the club is seen as the entity that serves the punter & that's who the punter shells out to. It's a contract.
For them not to apologise is going to look a bit off, even if it wasn't their fault & was that of a sub-contractor. Although, saying that, the fake device had been there 4 days, so whoever cleans the bogs there probably needs a word in their shell-like (again, another sub-contractor).
Sure, they'll tear the sub-contractor a new one & seek compensation, that's their contract.
Much in the same way as Apple would have to apologise for iphones catching fire when they sub-contact Foxconn to make them really.
Cheers.

yeah, but this is a bit more transparent than apple and subcontractors, tho. do we know if they were doing training for MU, or just using the ground as a venue for other training? would be a good place to stage a disaster reaction exercise.
yeah, man u will apologise for PR, but am not yet sure that's nit just for face.
still, you're right about the loo cleaner :p

They appear to have been using the stadium as a training ground for dog handlers (not the dogs).
What the stewards did, in evacuation, was superbly handled & something they have never had to do in a real situation before. :notworthy:
But the consumer is always going to chew the brand holder's bum & in this case it's Man U.
There will be those who will let the fact everyone got out of there safely vanish under the cloud of a security company that can't count phones. :?
United will have to make damn sure their choice of security firm demonstrates effective preventive measures to ensure it never happens again, as it is a huge embarrassment to them offset by what can only be described as a magnificent response by the staff there on Sunday.
There is a routine sniffer dog sweep before games anyway, but without explosives, the dogs wouldn't have raised any alarm.
Yeah, they'll have to foot the bill, but they will make damn sure they get that money back from the security firm &/ or insurance company.
Cheers.
