Vision Things...

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Just reading the Germany thread in the general section reminded me that Vision Thing is even after twenty years probably for me the album that still best sums up the times we live in with Trump, Isis, Brexit, oil, money and the rejection of experts and perceived wisdom for emotion and self-harm: 'I tried to tell her of Marx and Engels, God and Angels, I don't know what for'. Whereas Floodland was definitively Cold War (and a great album it is) Vision Thing is still very current. Anyway if not it, which album sums up the times?

The next one, I suppose... But as to which song, I definitely think it's Far Parade. I'm no lyrics deconstructor normally, but there is a feeling of great doubt and surrender of control or even beliefs, as far as I can tell.

If you tell :von: to actually f**king play it some day, I could elaborate further on it... ;D

Indeed, VT still describes the world we live in.

Damn, Far Parade - taking music UTG and WoD - has so great musical potenntial. If i could write songs properly (which means, if i can transfer melody that i built in mein kopf) it be at least one musical back ground for this. not that it would be fantastic.
