Seeing we've got so many axe wielding avatar people

It's time for a long and drawn out discussion on guitars

The type that really bores non guitar bod to the point of madness

Somebody start us off, then I'll come in when we start talking about Basses

Nice one Ed 8)

Still constantly playing a Les Paul after being a Strat player for years...think I have finally kicked the habit...

Next one for debate is the Precision bass addiction....

Next we'll be debating the best gauge of strings...(10's btw)...

Having played numerous expensive and exclusive guitars over the years, i can honestly say that the Parker Fly i own is still the best thing ive ever played....

So, how many strings does a bass guitar have? And what are those twiddly bits for?

......And is anyone as good as Flea?

I've seen up to a 13 string bass, and thats individuals rather than octaves like on a 12 string guitar. Thing looked like a plank

What's the history of Parker Paddy?

I've never been happier than with my Les Paul - direct input to a big Marshall (JCM 900 in my case) no effects, no tap dancing required.

Rock n' rooooollllllll!

Flea's overated imho.

Guitars are funny buggers - I played a squire yesterday with a gorgeous action for instance.

With basses you get what you pay for.

Hmm

Main Bass - Musicman Stingray 3EQ (Rock monster. Love it)

Back Up - Fender Precision Lyte (Woody sound with jazz strings)

Other - Honner Semi Acoustic (Song writing and plonking round the house)

Effects

Jim Dunlop Bass Wah (Silly Pedal)
Boss Bass Chorus (Main effect)
Boss Bass Overdrive (Instant Rickenbacher)
Boss Bass Synth (Dumb pedal only used to make silly noises)

Run into me good old Trace Elliot. Horrah!

Hey, that "dumb pedal"s "silly noises" are the mainstay of everything I play. :?

Got myself a nice BC Rich Bich (METAL!) which needs to be completely rewired, set up etc as I get fret buzz all over the 3rd frets (anyone know a good guitar tech?)

A Washburn Bass that was a total POS until the Washburn bass tech had a look at it (A friend of a friend) and managed to rescue it a little.

Pedals : Korg G3 (not working at the moment :( )
BOSS Metal Zone (A god amongst dist. pedals)
BOSS Chorus
BOSS Delay
BOSS (?) Supra Distortion - Turn it up a listen to it uncontrolably feed back over everything! :)

Have the metal zone and the chorus working together for that 80s goth feel! :)

Hello, and agree, the Les Paul is the axe of choice these days too...got an old Fender Blues De Ville that seems to agree with it too....mind you -might have to dig out my Telecaster just to see what it sounds like....

Have you been talking to Ian per-chance ???? ;)

OK lets talk guitars......

Main guitar is a Blue Parker Fly Deluxe. One of the first 200 into the country when they were still completely handmade. Mine was one of a pair, the other one found its way to Jeff Beck (there you go Ian!). Its a one piece body coated in graphite, made of a very light wood. Dimarzio custom humbuckers and Piezo pickups in the bridge which are active and make it sound like an acoustic through an amp. The tremelo is also a Parker patent which pushes against a ribbon spring rather than pulling at normal springs, makes it very tight and controllable. Its quite simply the best guitar ive ever touched.

Washburn N4 (Nuno Bettencourt signature model). Stephensons cut away neck, Seymor Duncan / OBL sharkfin pickups..mmmm

Ibanez Black RG 7 String.... for those Korn moments
RG7321 (except mine has the Floyd Rose Bridge)

Prince Telecaster copy by Hohner.

2 Ibanez "X" series, one blue one black. Both cheapies but amazing value for money necks.... fast for rythem stuff. One of them now has active EMG pickups in it (81 and an 85) and is a monster. Am waiting for more funds to soup up the other one :)

Washburn N2 (Nuno signature) Factory model. Want to sell if anyone wants it!

Ummm various acoustics....

Might sort a photo out at some point!

Like it Paddy.

I've also got a yamaha 12 string which I bought of Ebay from somebody in Huddersfield when I lived in Bristol and have now brought it back.

Its a great 12 string cause it stays in tune

Also have a black Washburn PII which takes off like a harrier!
So impressed with it that we now own two

@ ED - No, not yet.... just in my head somewhere...

@ Izzy - When a promoter offers us a show thats viable. We would really love to play over there, but with all the other things we do between us we havent got the time to put it together. We need a promoter who CAN.....
