Sisters/Smiths

I don't know if anyone else does it but if I see a music book about the 80s in a shop I always check the index to see if there are any Sisters mention. Anyway in the Johnny Marr autobiography, there are a couple of pages on the Sisters/Smiths Birmingham show and Marr is really very complimentary about :von: and the Sisters relationship with their fans. That is the one gig I would have loved to been at. Was anyone there? :D

I wish I'd thought of that.

The Tony Fletcher book about the Smiths also touches on The Sisters briefly - in a complimentary way too.

Wasn't at the Birmingham gig, but The Smiths supported The Sisters at Brixton and ULU in 1983. I was at both of them, but didn't see The Smiths play at ULU.

Could be wrong, but I always assumed, given the lack of musical similarities, that it was some sort of arrangement set up by Rough trade
