Pretty sure most of you already guessed ;)
https://www.facebook.com/events/160198311116152/
The Near Meth Experience are The Sisters Of Mercy on a day at the beach, with a caiprinha in hand and a copy of Private Eye in their skyrocket. Some say they're terrible people; some say they are even better than the real thing. Either way, Andrew Eldritch, Chris Catalyst, Ben Christo and The Legendary Ravey Davey will be performing some of their best and worst known songs in a manner befitting the circumstances.

The Membranes are Manchester's premier post-punk underground group, specialising in thought-provoking and artful energies. Fronted by creative powerhouse John Robb, the band will have just finished a week of dates with The Sisters Of Mercy, and have received rave reviews for their latest album Dark Matter/Dark Energy.

Chris Catalyst (that's me) from The Sisters Of Mercy, Eureka Machines, Ugly Kid Joe and The Ginger Wildheart Band will be opening the show with an acoustic set. Probably the last one I'll do for a while.

The Utah Saints will be refereeing proceedings with a finely picked improperly groovy DJ selection of their favourite tunes.

Suggested donation on the door of £10. Or more. Or much more.

There will also be March Violets merch to buy, and a raffle.

There will be no advance tickets for this gig. Get down early. Doors as soon as we can get them open, but probably 7pm. Maybe 6.30pm. There's a bar next door if you fancy a jar.
Mainset:
More
Ribbons
Doctor Jeep / Detonation Boulevard
Amphetamine Logic
Crash And Burn
Giving Ground
Alice
Arms
Dominion / Mother Russia
Gift That Shines
Flood II

Encore
Vision Thing
Lucretia, My Reflection
Temple Of Love
This Corrosion

Given it's 10 (yes 10) years since the last Near Meth I can see this being very very very well captured in a photo sense. Given phone cameras now. I won't be taking any. My camera's f*cked. However, let us that can be there capture it for those that can't! 8)

wow! that's a VERY on-the-ball update of the official site! i wonder if Andrew has relinquished the conn to the powerhouse that is Chris Catalyst. i wish i had some of that man's drive and energy!

it also puts the cat amongst the pigeons secret-gig wise! people's desire for forewarning and their job commitments etc are the only things stopping thousands descending on the place - as i will be in the capital of the people's republic from around 6am i shall be at the brudenell at midday when it opens. see y'all there. :von: ;D

Nah, it's still Von's signature circa-1996-HTML4-with-hard-coded-font-tags that hurts my purist eyes. Chris isn't old enough to be able to hand-code HTML that archaic. ;)

Hope everyone going to the benefit gig has a good time and donates freely!

I made the first Eureka Machines website in archaic HTML. Although we use swanky WordPress now.

after the sisters gig last night i made the -unforeseeable- mistake of eating a kebeb which poisoned me. i was at the sheffield coach station waiting for the coach to leeds when i started throwing up uncontrollably. after 4 hours of constantly being sick and feeling worse and worse, after running out of change for bottled water and all in the freezing cold, i came to the conclusion that i had no choice but to go home. still weak as a kitten now and unable to even think of eating. so unfortunately i had to miss this gig. gutted. no more gutted than the rest of you unable to go i'm sure but i was almost there so terriblyy upset. suffice to say the next time i go to sheffield it will be to burn down a kebab shop.
