I really don't look on here much. What I can gather this forum to me doesn't seem so busy anymore? I suppose we all move on to other things in our lives?

Nice to browse occasionally. :)

IMO Facebook is to blame.

There's an unfortunate tendency of FB useds to forget that there is a larger www aside from Facebook; if someone is a habitual FB used, it may not even occur to them to look outside FB for the Sisters fan community.

this forum may not be so busy as it has been but it endures; peeps come and go. and we get noobs. who love the sisters.

i have actually deactivated my facefuck account for the foreseeable future. for its few uses the rest of its too fucking dull, too fucking intrusive and i dont want to be part of the governments "grass-yourself-and-your-mates-up-by-accident" service.
nor do i need to hear 3 rd rate affirmations from basket-cases who probably wouldn't be so fucked in the head if they actually went out and spoke to people instead of sitting at home scrutinising the minutiae of their tedious existancies.

quiffy is still the boss, though his full-time job keeps him busy. both he and eva were at the recent sisters and near meth experience gigs

Haven't seen The Sisters since 2001. Not sure I've got the stamina to go to all those gigs anymore1 That's why you have got to give credit to Eva! :notworthy:

The best gig I think is Leeds and London Astoria 2001

i wouldn't say a word against the 80-85 group. it is undoubtedly a very dedicated and sisters-loving group; generating obscure, fascinating and hard-to-come-by facts and discussions about our favourite beat combo. however it isn't a competition, and heartland offers a broader and just as dedicated info-base about the band. i've had to point 80-85 members in the direction of our Sisters Wiki after answering questions that wouldnt need to be asked here. and certainly the much-vaunted arena for negative/anti-sisters opinions wouldn't be allowed there. plus HL is about more than the Sisters, always has been. from the oft-times intelligent political debate of the general chat to the inter-personal lurve and sympathy/empathy of the communtiy, Heartland has no equal. :von:

I tend to come here before and after tours. I resisted Heartland for years out of some loyalty to Dominion, which was fairly stupid.

I fade into some dull alter-ego after awhile and then spring back to life when "Incoming!" appears. This time, I don't really feel like getting back to real life. Go figure.

It's no more closed and invisible than certain sections of a certain forum to non-members, and for the same reason!

I agree with @EMWK. The 8085 FB group, Ribbons artwork group and the big 13000 member FB "hellooooo sistersssss" group (mainly old YT links) are great for niche groups to obsess about their own specialisms, but HL is still the mothership for most fans, even if there are more lurkers than commenters these days, and it's certainly the best place to discuss the current incarnation of the band.

That is just NOT TRUE. You can't see anything and not read a single word or see a single picture
if you don't become a member of f***book !!! There is no "lurking" there!!!

Here you can see 85% of everything without any sort of enforced membership.
And in the SistersWiki, you can even see 95% of everything there, and the other 5% are not Sisters-related.

If you re-read the section of my comment which you have quoted above, you will see that I clearly stated that I was comparing the "closed and invisible" nature of the 8085 group with the "closed and invisible" nature of certain Forum sections, and not the entire Forum.

Still it is the ENTIRE 8085 FB group, Ribbons artwork group and the big 13000 member FB "hellooooo sistersssss" group consortium that is FULLY closed to non-f***book members.

Problem is, the primary subject of the forum is not exactly producing a lot of headlines these days. Did I say days? I meant decade. ~s. :innocent:

Whoa!
I woke up, saw the red pen being flashed about & thought the boss had been in for a minute.
Let's not start another fight please :)
Like Lee said earlier, it's not a competition.
I'm sure the FB group serves a purpose as does HL, Poison Door, Dominion & any other Sisters resources & for fans, to have multiple places to visit can't be a bad thing should they feel like joining to get access to sections previously off limits to them & if those various environments already mentioned are more comfortable to a particular group of users, then what's wrong with that? :)
I'm pretty sure none of the platforms on the web are an "all seeing eye" into the Sisters goings on & some are more comprehensive than others.
Also, like Lee mentioned, HL has a broader scope than a purely Sisters dedicated platform & let's face it, when you try to bring Sisters fans together, you can bet your lunch money that they are going to share interests outside of the band itself.
Each platform chooses to present in different ways, whether it be structurally, or whether it only allows certain members to view & participate in certain things. That's their prerogative. Whether they reach a wider audience by doing that is by their design.
I run a The Cure forum & there are other global communities much much bigger than the one I manage. I just have to accept we need to co-exist.
I think it's called "mutually assured survival".
For my part, for my Sisters fix, I prefer to come here. I know people, there's a great info resource & it's comfortable. Not unlike popping into my local of a Saturday night instead of a packed town centre pub full of strangers yelling at each other.
:)

FaceBook Sisters is full of fan boi autism and virtual cock waving.

HL is the always going to be the place to see what Santa got us.

Fair play to Nessy for trying to troll us back into life, but this pub lost its custom when the regulars were allowed to bully the newbies.

Empathy rules okay..??..!!

Yeah, no strife! For me it's lovely that there are so many pages/groups out there about The Sisters of Mercy. And some of them are for sure especially great and wonderful. However, f***book is no option for me and I do feel pissed that I can't see these pages (and for several reasons), but hell, enjoy everybody who can see them, and if they find something interesting there, they might post it here for the rest of the world to enjoy it as well (if it is allowed) ... ...
