Fave Sisters video bootleg

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

On the top is 28.06.97 Philadelphia, Electric Factory and both London 2001 vids. Havn´t seen any electra pro footage from US 91 yet, know they exist

I think the Reading one is quite funny actually

york 84 is pretty dire

Daytime TV, blowing a gale, a crap set, bad sound and someone talking in the background.

Of those I have and thats not many

Wembley 90 - was it the 26th?

Although its a tired old tape now

The sound and vision are okay, filmed form the left hand side in the upper tiers.

I've only got 4 live videos, 3 from London during 2000/2001 which all seem pretty good and one from Bremen 1992, which is umm, interesting. It's shot from the dance floor, outside, during daytime by a person who couldn't see over the crowds heads. It's like playing "spot the band". The sound qaulity is pretty good though.

My favourite Sisters-on-video moment is Peter's Pop Show.

Astoria 2001 day II & of course that hand of zombie man on Philadelphia 97.

These 2 are really good ones
Actually I'm very interested in The Sisters in Peter's Pop Show.
I think I've seen 2 songs from it --
"More" and "I Was Wrong" in Estonian TV (or Russian TV, don't remember) in the beginning of 90s.
There were no words about bands in a TV program,
I saw the clips of The Sisters accidentally
between some quite good and some totally terrible musicians.
Von stood on the stage in a yellow coat or
maybe I mistake...
Anyway, I would be very happy to get this stuff on CD-Rs.
Sorry, this story belongs to the "Trading"-topic...

My favourite is not is gig. It's the German TV one from 85, where you get a bit of No Time To Cry, then Von is interviewed about what The Album First and Last and Always is about.

He stands there with Hussey leaning over his right shoulder, and argues with the interviewer about the impossibility of pinning it down to one central theme, whilst swigging beer and offering the fags round to the boys behind.

A class act!

From this period I have only Philadelphia 97
and Astoria 2001 x 2 (i. e. both days)
on CD-R-s as avi-documents.
I have no videotapes or video-recorder at all.

[Eldritch, Hussey and someone else, possibly Gary Marx are standing around in what looks like a dressing room, probably after a concert. They are all wearing old style Sisters gear, with black coats, hats and sunglasses.

Interviewer, who is Belgian, is struggling with the words in his questions. He is holding a copy of "First and Last and Always". It must be about 1985]

[First part of interview missing.]

I: ... to deal with the absence of hope like I thought I heard in some of your songs?

A: No. It's all about being very constructive, is this ... [points to record.]

I: Yes?

A: It's *realistic*. [Holds up record and leans forward to the camera.]

I: What kind of constructiveness?

A: Well, it's a grim world. Even in Belgium, it's a grim world.

I: Yeah?
A: So we feel it necessary to point that out and use that as a basis for everything else. [to the camera again:] Again, not unreasonable.

[part of No Time to Cry is played]

A: Well, that album's just about ... how you can deal with the world as it is. Through the medium of women, drugs, and roads, mostly. [drinks from beer.]

I: Yeah, but can you be a bit more clear about that. What's the real constructive concept of "First and Last and Always"?

[Eldritch bends down to put down beer and pick up a guitar case, unhurriedly.]

A: No, there's no one particular concept; it breaks itself down into, I dunno, five or six primary ideas.
[bends down to put down guitar case.]

I: Like?

A: Like how you deal with people, properly. How you have a good time without doing too much damage to yourself, and preferably very little to those around you that you care about. How you do the most damage to people you don't like. [puts cigarette in mouth and starts to light it.] Stuff like that ... [shrugs, lighter in hand and cigarette in mouth.]

I: When do you think that a concert is really satisfying?

A: When I collapse at the end of it.

I: You mean that?

A: Yeah.

[part of Walk Away is shown.]

I: In this country you're charting at this moment, for instance with "Walk Away" ...

[video disappears here for a second. Interviewer obviously asks Andrew whether the Sisters' chart success bothers them.]

A: [philosophically] No, we were brought up on chart acts. When we grew up, the only people that you got to know about were in the charts, so we don't find it strange to find ourselves there.

I: So you don't mind about, for instance, Killing Joke going for number one these days?

A: Well, we don't like fascists, otherwise we think they're great.

[End.]

Yeah that's the one!

Think it's post Marx as he's doesn't seam to be there in the live shots.

I've got two tapes full of Sisters s**t. But the quality was so poor when I bought it in 89 that I think copying it would be point less.

The 84 Chicago exit gig would blow up, I'm sure.

My favorite video has to be Brixton Ace 29.6.83.

My *funniest* Sisters video has to be a moment on Peterborough 23.4.83 when some guy runs onstage during the intro to Floorshow and Craig kicks him right up the arse. A few moments later the same guy runs onstage again, pulls Gary Marx hat off, then Ben Gunn appears on camera bottom right just in time to see him get smacked on the back of the head by the same guy. While this is happening Eldritch just looks on and smiles. 36 seconds of comedy gold.

Mine is FLA + Marian Whistle Test 85 ! (well not really a bootleg) Von has his holes on his pants, and the band performs really well. 8)

Then Kiss the carpet, Floorshow and a third one on Berlin loft club 83; just GREAT ! Spiggy Von is doing his personal dance around his mic. :notworthy:

Then... Brixton 1983.

@ BG - Hey Ben

Thats sounds like the same video I bought - got mine at a Record Fair in Cardiff in about 89/90 - cost £12 I think - a very treasured tape! :-)

(BTW - Tickets for Sisters in Bristol - on their way :-))
