GEOGRAPHY (for you)

Who is where these days? I'll start: was in Texas, now in DC (been here for four years or so, so far). I love DC, and I miss Texas. I like having seasons, and I love the monuments, but people in Texas are much nicer. Also: food in Texas is so much better. It really is. My impression of DC/VA/MD is that these people are all afraid of pepper and other spices.

This is one of the more fascinating subjects. Thanks for sharing. I must say I'm also intrigued if the username is male, female or alien? Where should I start I live between "A rock and a hard place"if you know what I mean? Geography 10 miles from where it happened in 1959. 10 yrs difference 1969. In a small market town near American airbase. Gosh I've been all over the place and completely off my face!

New York now, tried Phoenix AZ for 6 months (where surprisingly the number of really good Mexican restaurants can be counted on the fingers of 1 hand), London before that, a year in Nürnberg, 3 in Leeds. Don't really know that anywhere is "home" anymore, certainly the US would qualify based on time served but it's feeling increasingly less like somewhere I want to be.

Lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of my life. Spent 6 months in London as an older teen and I'd move to the North of England in a heartbeat. Liverpool, ideally. I work in tech so I could live anywhere. Pista is making this look awfully tempting:

Wherever I go this is always home, not far from Liverpool...
...not even a mile from Liverpool town hall, as the crow flies.

That'd do, too. Liverpool was just the first city I visited in the north and I couldn't believe the difference. Getting off the train from London, I just instantly felt like I could breath. Home. Wish I'd had the money to travel there when I was 17 and trying to find a place I could tolerate!

Well, next time you're in Europe, give me a shout. If it's the summer, load up with sun screen. Gets a bit roasting round here

This place added to my
education in the early 80's, you can even just see the front door of my student abode lol...
Though in those days there was an extension to the left of the front door.

i'm from Belgrave (pronounced bell-gruff) in Leicester, the smaller but less grotty of the 2 cities in the east midlands of England. i lived here for 25 years before becoming a "new age traveller" and living in various other parts of the country for the next 15. after 5 years spent in Grottingham, the east midlands other city, i moved back here.

I live outside Derby. I always thought that Derby was the centre of the known Universe but according to Mr Whizzkid doesn't even warrant a mention in the list of East Midlands cities.

it's not in the east though is it? it's almost directly above birmingham and definitely the wrong side of the M1 which divides east from west. if you want to be included in the midlands you'll have to be west with the brummies and the yam-yams. youre better off being "on the way up north."
*and for the record, peterborough is east anglia and lincoln is almost south yorks. so only 2 cities in the east mids.

This is where being an "affable" male comes in handy, we shall just have to agree to disagree.
Even if you are talking bollocks
