And for the rest of us, it's Happy "avoid all the drunken dickheads pretending to be Irish" day.
Who, me, cynical?
Happy St Patrick's to those celebrating

Having a quiet one this year as I'm the only one here not suffering from manflu. On the plus side, it's actually a nice change not to have to go somewhere or do something today.

What he said. It's one of the few days of the year where I actively avoid my local pub, which appears to be hosting the alcohol equivalent of amateur hour. Hipsters, millenials, and their braying trustafarian brethren who, after barely a sniff of barmaid's apron take it upon themselves to sing Dropkick Murphy's songs and wax teary-eyed about "the auld sod" even though the closest to Ireland most of them have ever been is The Hamptons, and I had never realised that Polish and Jewish surnames were so common in Dublin.
A few years ago I decided to don my comedy Orangeman outfit and sally forth, reasoning that if nothing else I would at least get the ever-loving shizz kicked out of me. Nothing doing. Very disappointed I was.
