I now have that notorious Proclaimers song in my head.

I'm always amazed that people have this impression of Iran as some super-religious, hyper-conservative, buttoned-up fundamentalist closed society where strangers are treated with suspicion and where the Revolutionary Guardians are waiting behind every bush to trap the unwary or unpatriotic. Honestly, if I were a woman I'd be more worried about walking solo across 1000 miles of the US than I would be about doing it in Iran.

Fair play to this woman for confronting her prejudices and coming back with a favourable impression of the country - I'd hazard that it's the same impression that any visitor comes back with, assuming that they didn't behave like complete tools*.

*which means in Iran pretty much what it means everywhere else.

She couldn't have make the half of it in US or other part of the world

the thought of running half a block let alone 1000 miles makes me want a cup of tea and biscuits to dunk.

A great effort, also physically .... my kudos to her ... ...
