Covers

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Hello there. I'm currently putting a Sisters covers list together for my cell phone (and possibly a gift cd). Thing is, as I already knew, most covers sux so bad it's almost laughable, weren't they so bloody horrible.

The only one I can stand is Alice by Clan Of Oxymox.

Mish' live versions of Marian found all over YouTube was fun for a while, but Craig's gdmn shouting when it comes to the german lyrics makes me shiver.

And don't get me started on the sloppy version from their new "live" album sold only on "Pledgemusic". For the love of God, a Marian that starts with a bunch of "Windows error system sounds"? Disgusting.

Marian by Scooter can actually be a fun one, in the right setting. Mildly drunk at a party somewhere.

I'm sure there's a zillion threads here with a gazillion answers about good covers, but I cba scrolling around. So, please share the best covers you've stumbled upon.

Hit me!

And by the way, Merry Christmas! :notworthy:

Not bad at all!

I'm a big fan of the Supersuckers' version of Afterhours. I also like Lambchop's This Corrosion a bit.

Interesting versions, thanks folks. I also found This Corrosion by Bosshoss. Somewhere deep inside I know I should hate it, but honestly I can't. A fun version to strut along to, singing loudly, while cleaning/preparing dinner/whatever :D
Too much but never enough
Tear it up and watch it fall

Yeah, there are a few. There is a single thread here but you can also use the search function for the word cover or covers & set to the sisters chat board. It should narrow it down a bit :)
Cheers.

Yeah, I only hope that "cover" will not get confused with "album front" and such. Think this will be a slow cooking project. Summer '18?

ALL covers of Sisters' songs are ABOMINATIONS. i'm sure your friend would prefer a compilation cd of the sisters playing sisters' songs. :von:
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

The Paradise Lost version of 'Walk Away' is actually quite good.

She already has them all. And happens to LOVE covers in general, for some odd reason.

So...
