Are The Sisters a left-wing political band?

To be frank, I'm much too aloof to concern myself with ordinary day-to-day political schitt, but are The Sisters a 'left wing' political band?

This could and would be telling... the government has labelled us 'terrorists', but that's only coz we have more to lose than they do, due to their false ABNs on the GLOSSA channel.

We can "work hard", but that doesnt' mean a lot, according to the 9 While 9 lyrics...

That's a question that i've pondered often - i used to think so more than i do now. Safe to say AE isn't right-wing, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's the other, either.

Personally i don't care for wings, i look at the eagle...

Sisters Gegen Nazis came to life after a right wing supporter wrote a letter to the band in UTR...

Definetely Left in 1997. From the VirginNet Interview on their website:
I am not a euro-sceptic, I am a euro-fanatic, for reasons which I could go on about for weeks.

My official residence is in the Netherlands. I am traditionally a Labour supporter despite my anarcho-syndicalist tendencies. Anarcho-syndicalism is all very well, but as they say, "You can't get there from here".

I had my doubts about New Labour and Tony Blair's presidential sliminess, but the new government is showing so much common-sense (so far) that I'll forgive him. Britain could turn into a sensible modern place after all, although the damage done by the Conservatives cannot be overestimated. What a bunch of spivs. It'll take a long time to sort things out.

He's described himself as an old school socialist in the past but would likely vote Liberal Democrat. This was before the Lib Dems lost it...God knows what a reasonable minded person would vote these days...

AE is definietly far from right. I can't find him to be Marxist or Troskyst and for sure, he's not bolshevik.
On the other hand: People's Republic of West Yorkshire.

According to Brexit voting sort-of statement, all in band were/are against leaving EU by UK.

(not bodily fluids grateful but think of you fondly grateful. fuck it - i have excess amounts - fluids it is, :von:

I tried to ignore this as I aimlessly browse through to see what’s new in this world. Though the first paragraph quoted actually pisses me off more than the second, it is the second that I can’t let go.

I’ve run through every lyric in nine while nine, mentally, and I have no ide what you’re referring to. Enlighten me.

I’ll preemptively return the favor and tell you that broadcasting that you’re too aloof to care about politics makes you sound like an ass. Yes, I get it that the system is s**t and we’re all being lied to, but the luxury of sitting it all out is not an option for everyone. Be damn sure that someone feels the sting when you refuse to take a side in a contest of degrees of evil. You owe it to suffering humans to educate yourself and be at least minimally involved. And to chose to support a path with a chance of success, regardless of your purest ideals.

Some time around the Off The Streets thing (maybe even onstage?) he bemoaned a government that made homeless charities necessary.

In their- his, really- own words:

"The Sisters Of Mercy are a left wing institution."

From: http://www.the-sisters-of-mercy.com/gen/biog.htm, near the bottom.

And:

"As you may have gathered, the Sisters are a political animal. And caring about anything is so uncool. Too bad. "

From here: http://www.the-sisters-of-mercy.com/gen/rrr2.htm

So, that would rather settle it, one presumes? :von:

you'd think so but take a look at the UTR pages in my first post^^^ you wouldnt think a Sisters fan could be a huge fan of the band and be a white-supremacist! ...and not ever occurred to him that The Sisters would be anti-fascist!

What a grade 11 response.

Politics is the new magnolia. Aloof is good.

AE hangs right of centre. But not averse to letting the more impressionable among his fan base believe otherwise.

Explicitly stating something and acting in accordance with it is a strange way of just letting people believe it.

As we all know, AE's an anarcho-syndicalist.

Which explains he's part of the Chomsky troops - that said, he's very fanatic about the United States of Europe as well.

Did anyone mention right-wing?

Maybe when the next album's out.

Affecting an air of disdain is so 2015. It just makes you seem like a pretentious teenager.

I always think it's a little undignified to flounce out, only to sneak back in later for an "oh and another thing"...
