The Sisters of Mercy biography commissioned

Oh my.

I've just been informed that the contract to write The Sisters of Mercy's biography has been signed between Mark Andrews and Unbound.

85,000 words.

Working title, I believe, is "Heartland: The Sisters of Mercy and Leeds, 1977-85".

You'll recall Mark has done some sterling Sisters-related stuff for The Quietus recently. This is VERY exciting news... :notworthy:

More information to follow over the coming months... :von:

Great news !! MA's articles in The Quietus is the best written storys about the band after Andrew J Pinell's Heartland Anthology.

This is exciting stuff!

Curious about the timespan involved. 1985 seems a natural cut-off point (maybe there'll be a "part 2"?) but starting at 1977 indicates we'll get some serious delving into pre-history. Can't wait!

Ooohh yes, very excited to hear about this - loved the stuff he's done about them for the Quietus. :D :D :notworthy:

Am so looking forward to this. Given the quality of the meticulously-researched articles for The Quietus, I'm sure that the whole HL community will get behind this project. The band deserves a serious tome devoted to them and Mark is the man to deliver it.

If it's via Unbound then I presume there will be a crowdfunder to generate sufficient pre-orders for it to be printed?

If so I'll definitely be contributing - Mark Andrews' work is very good.

anyway, this sounds like really a good project to me, given what we've already got with the articles Mark Andrews has done so far ... ;D ;D ;D ...

This goes along with the new album? Ot the live anthology from the bands vaults (which would have even more correlation with the bio)?

Can we (or more likely QB) get Mr Marx to apply his academic side to reviewing both La Huss' epistle and the 'official' tome when released.

Could be as chucklesome as Wayne's review of 'Gift' in, tries to remember, Melody Maker
