2004?

Wasn't this at the time of a touring hiatus, when :von: broke his leg in a motorcycle accident? He was his usual dodgy self in an interview about it, but that's roughly how I recall it.

:von: on the mend, revisiting some Infocom classics and thinking, the world needs these more now than new Sisters songs.

"Motorcycle accident" is, of course, a euphemism that goes back to Bob Dylan. Von with his keen sense of rock'n'roll history could hardly be unaware of the spirits he was summoning.

Good point.

Dylan's "accident" was just his way out of an overbearing album/tour cycle. He came back changed, sure enough, recording a whole bunch of new songs. IIRC, :von: did mention his idea, too, was to "write a song each day" during his leave, which didn't quite pan out.

:von: did seem to have a change of heart in that lull period. He'd been meeting up with major US record labels up to 2002 or some such, with a genuine intent in getting the Pearson/Varjak songs out as the next Sisters album. Of course, his proposals went down about as well as Theresa May's.

Cue 2005, Adam was announced to leave the band after one last tour. Whatever happened in around 2004, seemingly made :von: think the album is not worth the hassle and Adam felt it best to pack up and join MC5.

Now we know what stopped the album - Infocom. ;)
