Just rewatching TOL 92 on TOTP - reminds me that Von is a stunning performer but that the rest of the band from that period didn't have much of a clue - Steve Wright introduces it with an "I'm sorry" (Kind of fair I think :P )

I like what he says after it ends though - "Kind of heavy metal meets david bowie meets the circus".

As far as attempted insults go that's pretty accurate!

Oh, and to the point, anyone got any videos of other TOTP performances they'd be willing to weed out?

Ta.

I remember that one - caught it a few years ago. As I'd always suspected, a guitar band with no drummer and no smoke to hide the fact just looks silly.

:innocent:

At least they had a proper bass player back then...

I reckon someone should suggest to the Beeb that they release a video/dvd of Sisters ToTp performances - they've done that before for other bands such as The Smiths. I sure we'd all buy it.

Anyone know who "we" would need to contact at the BBC to make such as request?

I would be willing to do it if I only knew who to contact!

Any Ideas ?

Watching Andrew performing Dominion, dressed in white suit, on TOTP was such a glorious moment for me. "Looking mean and moody there, Andrew Eldritch", the announcer (don't remember wich one) concluded, and indeed, von pulls it off with perfection, without looking ridiculous or malplaced or anything. Just looking victorious.

I think I've seen at least two different performances of This Corrosion, could that be right? One with a white shirt and one without. During one AE was presented as Anthony Eldridge in the captions.

The making of a DVD-compilation is a wonderful idea. Very good idea indeed  :!:

Lovely idea. I remember Lucretia too - they cut it with shots of the vid, and Von looked utterly wired. Then the idiot presenter made some remark to the effect that Goth wasn't dead after it.

They could perhaps add the Tube 'n' Whistle Test performances too - would be nice to have them all together.

...and "The Roxy", von in full beard and ripped jeans with Patsy, and James Ray and the Performance. (Not forgetting Montreaux festival as well)

most obviously they are all on different networks.

Suppose I could find out how to burn stuff from video to DVD, put it on ebay and just kinda lie back and watch the dosh roll on in

was reviewing some of my vid's the other day

the original 92 TOTP where he announced the Birmingham gig at the end.

and the Chart Show? programme where at the end of More, a little box appeared on screen, saying that TSOM were playing two dates at Wembley. If memory serves this was before the gutter press got hold of the news.

all the others you mentioned, including Montreaux which at the time was tipped off to me by my man down the pub. He said something along the lines of "oh by the way Eric (JR) is gonna be on telly with that wanker Eldritch". I think by then JR & AE were already having a lover's tiff. Finished with the words. "Power power! " Never quite got that?

From what I hear there is a 2nd Whistle Test dvd out - but yet again the Sisters performances are NOT it. I should point out that I have not seen this 2nd dvd so I can not confirm this information!

Probably copyright issues. Not unusual with the band at hand. Apparently that was what prevented their Peel session gig from appearing in the usual PS series of releases.
