A strange kind of spam!

What will they come up with next?

It happened to me twice in a couple of days. Perhaps you're more aware of it by now. Perhaps you even have a name for it?

It's very annoying. You search for keywords in Yahoo, for instance, and they send you on a goose chase with never ending opening windows and pop ups of all sort, including some that imitate Windows operative system insisting that you download this and that.

What really annoys me is that these tricky links are on top of your search and they know you'll go there because you're used to rely on search results.

I was looking for Marilyn Manson's lyrics and I got this link at the top. As you can see, the word advertisement is quite hidden. Check it if you're curious.

Don't download or click anything! Just close the pop ups!

Marilyn Manson Apple of Sodom lyrics. Advertisement at Marilyn Manson Apple of Sodom lyrics. Marilyn Manson links. ... Marilyn Manson Apple of Sodom lyrics.
www.musicsonglyrics.com/M/Marilyn%20Man ... lyrics.htm

You'll find out they'll send you through pages and pages till you go back where you started in the first place.

Or you could use Google and get these results (the first 5 on the list):

1. http://www.azlyrics.com/m/marilyn.html
2. http://www.wickedland.com/manson/lyrics/
3. http://www.musicsonglyrics.com/M/Marily ... lyrics.htm (there are some lyrics on here, but not much)
4. http://www.purelyrics.com/index.php?artist_detail=13
5. http://www.lyricsondemand.com/m/marilynmansonlyrics/

I didn't see any adverts on that 3rd one. Mind you, I have loads of advertising blocked on my browser so I guess this is why the page looks ok to me.

Oh, I've find what I was looking for, yes! But the first links - that used to be the best matches for your search - are spam!

I don't have a pop up killer because... *embarassing* ... I also work as a web designer and sometimes I have to add pop ups myself... But nothing much, really, only promotions and stuff related with the site that don't fit on the main page.

But this kind of spam in Yahoo is a novelty to me. I bet it has a name already!

By far the best, most relable and least annoying search engine is "Google"

There are many different "goggle" search engines on the web - one for each country.

For instance if you are looking to bring down the US Government try http://www.google.gov ;-)

Perhaps even Portugal may even have its own themed "Google" search engine!

BTW A Google is 1 followed 100 zeros ! - oh to be paid in Googles ;-)

I did a search on Google.com (the american mother company) and managed to discover the following URL

http://www.google.co.pt/

This would appear to point towards a free web address - google have not yet taken the option of adding this to their list

Perhaps you should check it out - as you the language

Knew You'd Be Pleased.....

Use Mozilla Firebird instead of IE and say goodbye to pop-up ads.

Or keep using IE and get what you deserve: a thoroughly crappy web-browsing experience, rife with pop-ups and security holes, and NO TABBED BROWSING! :(

I don't understand what you mean?... :?:

And sorry, there is Google in portuguese: www.google.pt

But what was your point anyway?

My point was a new kind of spamming and alerting people about it. I don't have a problem with my searching online.

As IE was continually crashing I opted for an browser called "OPERA" - it appears to work fine with the only ads being a small box in the top right corner of the screen and I can live with that :-)

In your first post you mentioned that when you were searching for Marilyn Manson lyrics you kept having "pop ups" when using a search engine - Yahoo I believe

I thought you might to know of a reliable search engine, which does note bombard you with "pop ups" and this would be Google and I also thought you might appreciate it if it was in your own language.
