Rehearsal room rugs

Is there some sort of bye law or something that dictates all rehearsal rooms have to have those oriental style rugs in them?
Almost every photo I have ever seen of a band rehearsal space there has been one (or more) of those horrid rugs in it.
Are they acoustically special or something?

i actually know something about this one
there's a few reasons that go beyond the aesthetic "appeal"...
1) they're heavy so deaden reverb well, and don't slip around like cheaper/lighter rugs might
2) they're hard wearing, so usually last for years
3) unlike other rugs they dont have a deep pile, so you dont trip up on them and are better suited to walking on while wearing shoes
4) they're good for drum kits as they help stop the kit bouncing about (as well as the aforementioned acoustic benefits)
and i suspect this is also the case:
5) they feel a bit eastern or mediterranean, so probably make folks feel like they're the beatles making sgt pepper or something

FFS, even The Cure use them
I'm slightly surprised there isn't a band called Rehearsal Room Rugs. Pell would have had them in session every week.

First band I saw blatantly flaunting these beasts were The Black Crowes at Bradford St. George's Hall. Since then every bugger seems to have acquired them.
Best pointless stage gear to me was AAE's fairy lights, but everything close to the saintly Julianne gets my biased blessing. I did consider the Stone Roses "dancer" Cressa, but in distracting from Ian Brown's tuneless live "vocals" he served a purpose.

It must have been so hard over "lockdown" for bands to do home recordings without these rugs.
Unless they went & nicked them all from the rehearsal rooms first

Reckon the fact that they are so large, are probably quite cheap (doubt they’re authentic eastern imports) and in plentiful supply at the local flea market are contributing factors too
